Do people with lots of money get bore or something? They said on CNN that the boat is worth 1.6 billion dollars, a tank of fuel will run you half a million dollars and just to keep the boat on water it costs up to like 4 million dollars.

Its insane what people will spend their money on. Talk about your money pit.

What's it have? A 500,000 liter fuel tank, or are they pricing this at European prices rather than him filling up at the cheaper ports? I think these things use about 10 liters per mile. At $1/liter bulk pricing, it would be a huge tank capable of a 50,000 mile range.

I doubt the upkeep is 4 million annual. That's probably the max it would cost, under someone's fantasized estimation..

Someone have the actual specs, of what is likely a custom yacht, or are are we going to believe what someone else says?

And CNN is never wrong....

OK....

I remember during the gulf war, when the scuds were launched. The radio site I supported participated as we patched the command center to our radios. We went plain-text instead of encrypted on the radios, announcing a scud launch. Went through the normal routine of validations, and about 5 minutes later, we turned on the satellite receiver, and watched CNN international. A full 20 minutes later, they announced the attack as taking place now. Shit, if they would have just tuned to our frequencies, they could have broadcast us live.

Those numbers just seem wrong.

Besides, the 1.6 billion for the boat is wrong. an estimate said it might cost as much as 800,000,000 euro, or $1.12 billion. However, another report has it at 340,000,000 euro, or $590,000,000.

Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea Football Club, is now the proud owner of the world's most expensive private yacht, the Eclipse. Costing €340 million ($590 million) it has many original features, including a German-built missile defence system.

CNN is wrong all the time. I never trust a word they say without verifying.

No different than a 100K a year salary buying a 50K bass boat, 50K truck and 20K worth of gear. Not as bad actually. If you have 20 billion dollars, you can spend a couple bills and not miss breakfast because of it. Bet he doesn't have to eat ramen.
