It looks nice, not sold on Sense though. Although I heard moving away from Tegra chips makes it easier for the dev commnity (and achieving S-OFF).

This is true. I heard the big day is March 17th for the S IV. I may hope onto it since develoment for some HTC devices seem to be shit.

HTC fell into the 'better mousetrap' line of thinking last year with the One X/One S, and did not market these phones like they should have. To no one's surprise, they got flattened by Samsung's marketing campaign in the latter part of 2012.
Hopefully they've learned from their mistakes this time, although I wonder if it's too little, too late for them.

And by the way, anybody notice how close HTC made Sense on that phone look like their Windows phones? They're really pushing hard the idea of HTC phones differentiating themselves from other OEMs, regardless of OS.

mainly slow dev support due to HTC's continued creativity in thwarting S-Off. Also, slow (illegal) release of source code for their kernels/version's of android....

Troof. Rooting and modding a Samsung is about 1000x easier. Modding my wife's EvoLTE is a nightmare.

Hell, Samsung offered Cyanogen a job about two years ago and he took it. This could have something to do with it (though his own list of easy to dev phones lists sony's as number one and samsung as number two)

s-off?
Quick definition in the first paragraph here (http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-s-off-how-to-gain-it-on-htc-android-phones-with-unrevoked-forever/)
Looks great but does it have an amovible battery? A micro sd slot? What kind of screen?
I see people saying Samsung gets better buys only because of their marketing but it's not true, they get the casual users that way they make great products as well.
Also Sony and HTC's strategies of coming up with new flagships every 3 months is confusing and doesn't help their case.

Truth . SII --> SIII --> S IV. You know what's their yearly flagship.
HTC? One X. 6 months later...One X+. 6 months later...One. What??

Once you have rooted an HTC, its party time TBH :lol
I did use the HTC All in One toolkit, but still, the Android terminology lost me :lol

Thankfully, for the One S, dev support is going strong; we already had Sense based ROM, but AOSP roms have popped up like crazy recently on XDA :wow

I'd settle for stock CM 10.1, god damnit. Currently, only one dev is working on it for the AT&T/Telus version, and the phone call feature is still broken. FML.

Good choice. Shame because I love the hardware on HTC phones, and the screen is immaculate. But I'm gonna sell it if I'm on Sense one month from now.

Basically if I can't find a 16 GB for 350 or less by the end of the weekend then I will pull the trigger and just get it through play.google.com
I will also immediately purchase a TPU case for it. LOL

TBH my next phone is either a Nexus, or a Samsung
Im in no rush though, as dev support is good on my One S, plenty of AOSP Roms
But yeah, last HTC phone me; the main reason I rooted it is because OS updates are late with HTC (and those faggots lie everytime)
OS updates are pretty fast on Sammys

Yeah you're lucky, the ROM support for your One S is pretty good. I liked HTC because of the hardware quality, but pointless if you're stuck on Sense, tbh.
The X+ has an international and N.A. version. The international has 80% dev support (still only like 8 ROMs) and the N.A. version has one person struggling to make a working build for CM1:lol.1. Forget about PA, AOKP, etc..

That sucks
But my next phone will be a Nexus or a Samsung Galaxy S5 or S6
BUT shit, Galaxy S phones are getting bigger and bigger, WTF
S2 was 4'3 (perfect size for my girly hands, TBH)
S3 is 4'7
S4 should be 5'
If they keep making the S even bigger, I might as well get a Phridge, I mean a Galaxy Note :lol at least it comes with a pen

http://www.theverge.com/2013/3/19/4122798/htc-one-delayed-because-of-component-shortage
HTC One fans were disappointed to learn last week that the phone had been delayed to late March or early April. Now,The Wall Street Journal reports that the flagship meant to turn around HTC's performance is being hampered by its past defeats. "The company has a problem managing its component suppliers as it has changed its order forecasts drastically and frequently following last year's unexpected slump in shipments," says an unnamed executive. He and others blamed the One's delay on shortages, particularly of the metal casing and camera parts. "HTC has had difficulty in securing adequate camera components as it is no longer a tier-one customer."
