What I take from this is that Phil Jackson will coach the Lakers next year and Dwight will remain a Lakers and sign a contract.

SI: The $12 million question -- and I'm just throwing out a number -- is: Are you going to coach in the NBA again?
Jackson: I'm not coaching. I told Mitch [Kupchak, Lakers GM] that back in October. So when we sat down in November [to talk about taking over after Mike Brown was fired], he brought that up and I said, "Well, this isn't about moving or going somewhere else and learning new players. It's different. So I'm ready to think about coming back, but I still have to think about it."

Jimmy "I'm not Dolan" Buss wouldn't want the guy who taps his sister coaching, tbh.

Phil won't mind coaching if they can get a decent PG and a couple all star shooting guards, and Lebron.

I agree with this. Nash wont work in Phil's system.

I heard Phil Jackson make this statement before. He's criticizing now so he's going to have show he could utilize him right. Jackson's ready to take the challenge by making this statement. imo Of course it depends on that idiot Jimmy but he's getting a lot of pressure from everywhere. He might do whats best this time.

I'm a betting man and I would bet against the Lakers sucking for years under Phil.

He's 67, can barely move due to a bad hip, and is probably headed to Seattle in a front office job if Sacramento doesn't keep their team...

That guy could be on a wheel chair his entire life and he'd still coach a team with Howard, Bryant and Nash (of course solving any ego issues with Kobe/Dwigh as well)

Wow...so you think that 67 year old Jackson who can barely move is headed to Seattle But I'm called out my name to think that 67 year old Jackson will coach the lakers next season. cool

The Dwight/Kobe shit is nothing. The Lakers had it with Shaq/kobe and won 3 titles. Phil can handle that and said so.

phil will probably assume a pat-riley role in the lakers FO but it's very unlikely that he will ever coach the team again. dude's old and he already has more rings and honors than whoever has coached in NBA not named auerback. phil ain't gonna take the post as lakers coach only to spoil his image on the sinking ship imho

Phil will demand $20m per season this time to "convince" him to coach again. :lol
Brown and D'Antoni will leave LA with a ton of money. Hiring them was supposed to cut costs.

No, he's not coaching right now. What's the problem with that? It's not the same as saying "I won't coach" and Phil picks his words carefully.

Howard isn't even remotely close to Shaq in terms of sheer domination.

i basically agree but Phil has the upper hand. He knows that LA has his requisite number of all stars and future HOFers to be succesful for him. He knows the Lakers got $100 million spent on two blocked shots (which keeps their fanbase happy) but that $100 million is going to hurt once the new luxury tax kicks in, so the Lakers FO will get desperate. Plus he's the only human, past or present, who can manage a championship out of Kobe. Also whatever issues he has with Jim Dolan Buss, he can take it out on Jeannie by wearing his hemp cock ring and smashing her asshole.
