Sacramento has traded forward Thomas Robinson to the Houston Rockets, league source tells Y Sports.

The Houston Rockets have traded Marcus Morris to the Phoenix Suns (http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=234107#) for a future second-round draft pick, league sources tell Y! Sports.

The Kings really traded a recent lotto pick for another team's trash?

Marcus Morris is better than a 2nd rounder tbh

Agreed. Quality buy-low trade. That said, Phoenix has an abundance of underachieving knuckleheads now.

Weird trade. Is T-Rob really that bad that on a rookie scale contract he still wasn't valuable enough for the kings to retain? This guy was talked up as the number 2 pick by some people before the draft.

If the rockets were going to send Patterson and Aldrich to sactown I don't get why they jettisoned Morris for a 2nd. Now they are pretty damn thin up front. Robinson a good add though

JMarkJohns

Complicated and odd trade.

Seems:

Robinson, Garcia, Honeycutt, 2nd
For
Aldrich, Patterson and Douglas

Sam Amick ‏@sam_amick (https://twitter.com/sam_amick) Kings send T. Robinson, F. Garcia, T. Honeycutt to Houston for Toney Douglas, Cole Aldrich, Patrick Patterson & cash, USAT has learned.

Robinson will flourish once he gets out of Sacramento tbh. Like J.J. Hickson.

Morey simply making his case for GM of the Year.

Probably a bigger trade tomorrow.

Assuming HOU declines '14 option on Garcia, the two moves tonight save HOU about $1.6M combined in 2014 salary. Ahem.

They should have Morey and RC duking it out for GM of the Year every year tbh

So who's going to be Houston's backup PG? Is there something I'm missing?

JMarkJohns

I'm surprised Telfair wasn't sent to Houston to be backup. Lots of talk both Telfair and O'Neal will be traded to playoff teams.

Patrick Beverly for now. Unless there's a minor trade tomorrow.

Patrick Beverly, he's been stealing Douglas' minutes. Not a bad backup, tbh. He can look like shit at times though.

Great deal by Morey, per the usual. Landing a top 5 pick from this draft, clearing our logjam at PF (and unleashing Motiejunas), while still clearing more cap space to go all in on Howard this summer.

All it does is add 2 million towards the salary cap for no reason IMO.

No FA of worth is choosing Phoenix right now. I'd rather they do this then overspend for another Beasley.

Glad to see Robinson in a better situation now. Damn the Rockets made out big to get a talent like that without giving up much of consequence.

Thomas Robinson got traded cause he sucks. He can hustle and rebound but that's it. He's a 3 year college player who struggled as a backup. Bad sign long-term.

Thanks dJohn2008 and Kai,seemed like too big in a drop off in talent to me but looking at his assist numbers for GS, Sac and Por games seems like he's okay. Though it may also be a matter of teams needing to adjust to him.

He's improved his game a bit. He went overseas earlier in the season and was the Eurocup MVP.

Rockets have enough cap room and roster spots (thanks to the Morris trade) to absorb Rip Hamilton. Apparently Chicago and Houston have had ongoing negotiations. His salary is only guaranteed $1 mil next year and can be prorated to $333 k over the next 3 years. If Chicago is willing to throw a first round pick at us to take him off their hands (getting them under the LT apron), it'd be a pretty decent haul for Morey.

T-Robs okay. Only just beaten by those Kentucky wonder kids. Lacks an inch but you get him out of Sac and into Texas and watch him improve.

He'll probably be a better finisher at the P&R than Asik is. Expect Lin's and Harden's assists to slightly increase.

If I'm the Rockets, I do everything I can to get Tony Allen and Josh Smith to Houston in the off season. A couple all-defensive players to add to Asik to hopefully compensate for Lins horrible D.

Fortunately you ain't the Rocket. They need Lin for their ticket selling.
BTW, Lin plays much better now.

Lin got benched in the 4th quarter against Chicago because he was getting abused by Nate Robinson.

Why this trade happen ? I do undestand Rockets position, but I am pretty sure that wasnt their call to make. I mean, Robinson was 5th pick 8 months ago ? Dont know this dude, but they even didnt give him a full year to develop. Patterson is good player, but still...

Way under salary cup, Garcia is TO, so basiclly he could be gone. 2nd round pick is going to be 35 at worst. New managment didnt like to have 5th pick on rookie scale for next 3 seasons ? Or this fucker Cousins had something to do with this call ?

i don't understand it, if they traded for t-rob with asik, then that's a bad fit, neither has any offensive game two feet away from the rim, if they intend to go small ball with t-rob being asik's backup, then i'm assuming it's to play royce at pf but again, no offensive game and also another player that needs the ball in his hands, so another bad fit... i'm hoping they play parsons at pf and delfino at sf for now, it seems like the best fit for a lightning fast team but i have no idea how will parsons adapt, also it is a questionable move to make a young player adapt again just when he found his role.. Delfino is really not suited for the pf job and D-Mo is perhaps the only fit that makes sense, but doesn't defend at all.. i don't know, more moves may be coming..

Basically t-rob played like he was Thabeet without his length and D.. Can only score on dunks and can't shoot ft, just another example of overating a big man for some supposed defensive presence only shown against childs.. He's been a bust, really...

Bad pick followed by bad trade. Nothing better to expect from Kings anyways

basically what the kings expect from t-rob is for him to become what patterson has been this year, so they are simply taking the finished product, while hoping PP is a bit faster.. however, i don't see how could the kings pass on him with the fifth pick, he has really really been overated by scouts, another reason why i never believe draft boards when it comes to bigs

David Aldridge ✔ @daldridgetnt ICYMI: Told unequivocally that the Rockets will NOT flip Thomas Robinson in any trade scenario. Team "loves" him, per source.
