Pretty pathetic. Spurs have tried the full season to trade him and still can't find anyone. Seriously, wtf were teams asking, if he couldn't just be shipped by himself.

Couldn't even get a decent draft pick.

for a kid who was considered the steal of the draft a couple years ago.

That's what's so ironic. If he's Blair's biggest fan he should be pissed he's still here.

He's had a few good games against them, but most of those were prior to the changes they've undergone. Also, Tony Delk once scored 50 points in a game...

Oh well.. Let's hope when #45 does play he actually helps the team instead of blowing dong as usual.
Spurs need to play Baynes ahead of this scrub too.

I'm still happy with knowing he's gone after this season.

Oh well. Perhaps Blair will emerge as the Spurs secret weapon in a much-anticipated WCF matchup with OKC. Maybe he'll have a flashback performance with a double-double.

Or it says just how little market Blair has. It sounds like everyone's asking price was too much, so obviously, it was Blair + something else

I'm glad the Spurs kept Blair. Getting pick above 45 would have been a bad trade.

The Spurs obviously think Blair is worth more insurance-wise than the money owed to him. I think that's a perfectly logical assessment.

If Blair is playing more than just a couple token/garbage minutes in any playoff series then something went incredibly wrong. He won't be starting this season and shouldn't be in the rotation at all.

Then this summer he'll walk on a 1 year deal with someone and get a chance to show something elsewhere.

I wouldn't get my hopes up regarding Baynes getting rotation minutes this year at all. Its just not looking like Pop is even willing to give him garbage time minutes. That said, I'm curious as to why we pushed to acquire him midseason if we weren't planning on using him yet.

Yeah I know, I just like saying playbaynes. I think they went to acquire him for next season. With Bliar leaving after this season, Baynes should really take his minutes next season. Just like with Kawhi, I believe Baynes has the potential to play somewhere around our expectations. He just needs the minutes to adjust, properly.

Yeah, Blair needs motivation to play well, sometimes. He did well when he first joined b/c he was mad that all other passed up on him b/c of his no-ACLs. If we trade him, he'll probably play good for whoever, then he return to regular ole' Blair after a while.

but I trust Pop and RC and I know they tried their best and have Dejuan and the Spurs best interests at heart.

When Pop needs Dejuan, he'll be ready to contribute as he always has been."

He needs time to learn/practice. It's not like Diaw or Jackson who was already in the NBA.

Grizz is here for the season and I don't have a problem with it now that we have Baynes when we need a big fella to lay down some law. Also, you simply don't trade at the deadline if you have a team with chemistry this good, unless that trade fills a glaring hole.

It looks to me like we've found a backup PG (De Colo), and a big, mean beast of a kid (BANE!!!), and no-one out there could deliver a player that would've been a difference maker for in return for Grizz or any of our other expendables. Besides, Grizz knows the system, he's been pretty good in limited minutes this year, and he costs very little, so it doesn't hurt to keep him for the season.

Instead of trading for trading's sake, the Spurs FO has put faith in the system and the guys they have to take them as far as they can go. This is the Spurs' Way.

For mine, this team has a real chance at a championship, just like last year. All we need now is for OKC bigs not to shoot 22/25 EVER AGAIN, and things might turn out the way we want them to. :D

02-22-2013, 04:51 AM
Why, the Spurs let Anderson walk for nothing, signed him for a while to shore up the wing depth when KL/Jax were out, then promptly cut him when Baynes looked to be available.

Blair might have a similar trajectory.
