View Full Version : Clippers Tonight's game displayed the only aspect I hate of Paul's game..

He goes through stretches where he defers way too much..

He has the ability to score at a high level and efficiently, but he's often content with fading into the background and becoming Jose Calderon, tbh..

Clippers don't have a great wing player, or even a consistent go-to scorer, Paul needs to be the go-to option when it is required..he doesn't have to become a chucker like Westbrook, but he needs to find a consistent balance..

Agreed. I actually think this is the kind of game where CP3 needed to look to score first right out of the gates. Put pressure on Parker and make him work. Instead the Clips were feeding Blake where he hit fools gold crazy shots which are now clanging off the rim.

But damn the Clips are getting killed out there.

I'm a big CP3 fan too, he's the only player I like on the Clippers, I'm not a hater, but this is the same nigga that deferred to Jennaro Pargo in the biggest game of his career..he needs to change his game when it's required..

Agreed, he dissapears way to often for a top 3/5 player in the league.

Rarely plays well in big games

Yeah, I never quite regained complete respect after he deferred to Jannero Pargo in that Game 7. Paul was doing well all series and then got straight up scared in Game 7.

CP3 is great -- probably the 3rd or 4th best player in the league when he's right -- but he can get shook when the going gets tough ... and that's a worrisome flaw since teams that are built around him can't survive if he disappears.

has more talent to play with on the clippers, but shitting bed as usual when it comes to h2h against the other elite pgs

I dont blame Paul but he is still not even what he was pre-injury ...he is still elite but he is probably 85% of his true MVP candidate days with Hornets. But no way that cat is an MVP in a league with Lebron in his prime.

Clips like I said is 2nd round fodder for Spurs or OKC if they get their head out their ass ... but CLips have no shot at a title this year ...would be nice if they were truly legit but they are not.

i actually like CP3's game and its versatile ability, yet passing/playmaking focus. its what i think of as a prototypical point guard. its also not something that works well if you dont have CONSISTENTLY good teammates. i agree with the OP's take, but i place the Onus of responsibility on Blake Griffin and team to play better, and failing that, VDN to force CP3 to take on a scorers role.

same issue that Rondo has tbh except cp3 is a much more talented scorer than rondo.

You're confusing Paul with Rondo.

i guess its not a bad thing for top talents to start their careers playing on scrub teams. you learned to be a loser when you first joined the league and it's gonna be hard for you to change that attitude no matter how hard you try. those who're often considered all-time greats like dirk, kobe, duncan, piece etc... all started off on competitive teams and their mentalities are better than the likes of bron and durant, who're also great players but don't seem to have such mind sets that dirks and duncans have, and you get a number of such mental midgets following down the line including iverson, francis, t-mac etc...

Harlem with the goods.... that's been my one complaint about CP3: every so often, he'll randomly have a game where he isn't aggressive on offense for no reason at all.... these games also tend to be blowout losses since Vinny's entire "plan" depends entirely on CP3....

Dont think this is an attack on you!
Im tired of the injury excuse, its like saying Rose is the best PG in the NBA...no he isnt, in fact, I rather have any other player in the league and not Rose for this season.

I also think that the amount of minutes/games a player played during a season should be considered when ranking them.
If you ask me, I rather have Parker than CP3. Its good to compare the 36 minutes stats, but when a player missed 10% of the games that stat becomes a lie.

Wasnt excusing his play this year ... I deem him healthy as he he is ever gonna be. My point is after having serious injuries like Paul did and as you mentioned, Rose ...to expect them to be better than Parker who has never had a major inury to his back, knees or feet is silly. PArker destroyed him last night and he should . Parker is the better player right now (yes I said it) I may like Paul's game more ... but Tony rarely misses game is a monster to keep put the paint and is more aggressive than Paul offensively.

I think you misunderstood. No excuses tbh, Im with the TNT guys right now Paul is just better. But if you ask me if Parker is better than runner up MVP, pre-injury Chris Paul I would say probably not ...

I didnt misundertood, thats why I said that my post wasnt an attack to you, I just use your post to say my thing! :p:
Ontopic:
What Im saying is that if the season ended today and I could choose a PG to play "this season", knowing what I know now (CP3 injured) Im choosing Parker. Theres a chance that Im more concerned than others about injuries, but a team that loses his best player not only loses more games than usual when he is not playing, they also lose games after he returned.

Looking at this, I have a player that averages 5 more pts, higher FG%, 2 less assists and almost 2 less steals.
But what this stats are showing to me, is a player that missed 8 games and now isnt playing at 100%. That effect on his team is huge.

Long story short, Im choosing Parker over CP3 now. Maybe after the season ends I would change my mind.

I agree Captivus this season Parker has been the best and most consistently good PG ...no way Paul deserves all NBA or MVP votes over him thus far this year

cp3 is injury prone, why should he be free from criticisms when shaq was always the scapegoat for not play full season games....

the better player is the one that play most games and has his team competing for a playoff spot,

dont like to play the 'what if, would of, could of card'
