View Full Version : DeJuan Blair's Agent Disappointed With No Trade

DeJuan Blair has been on the San Antonio Spurs' trading block for the past year, and he and his agent expected the forward to be traded by Thursday's deadline.

Ultimately, the Spurs could not find a suitable deal for Blair and kept him -- which was disappointing for Blair's camp.

"Obviously I am disappointed that we were not able to get a trade done but I trust Pop and RC and I know they tried their best and have DeJuan and the Spurs best interests at heart," agent Happy Walters said. "When Pop needs Dejuan, he'll be ready to contribute as he always has been."

For as much as Dejuan Blair frustrates so many Spurs fans, I think it's clear that he's been a pretty good soldier for this team. He could have easily chosen to make problems because of his frustrations and disappointments, but he's been ready -- if limited -- when Pop has called on him and hasn't made waves.

Nice to see Blair's handling things professionally. I was rooting for him to get moved somewhere where he could really prove his worth though. Not getting that trade probably has cost him a pretty good chunk of money since I think he's a capable rotation bigman on most teams.

If he wants to be waived, let him go.

Blair's attitude has been about as good as one could imagine from a young player who has been yanked around so much. I don't think he has many years left in his basketball career but hopefully I'm wrong.

Turns out it was a smart deal for the Spurs to give Blair lotto money instead of the deal rookies usually get when they're drafted where he was. That probably bought enough good will to keep him in line through it all.

Hopefully he will be able to grab a 3 year contract with someone probably with a team option on the third year grab him self 5-8 million (maybe more who knows) get a good money guy and live comfortably for the rest of his life, he has been very professional minus a few questionable tweets. Regardless of actual production he is always ready to play when his number is called! And for that I thank him!

So many ST posters had and have better NBA careers with no ACLs. Blair sucks.
He and his agent can go f themselves if they think he deserved and deserves anywhere near Matt Bonner money and years.

Did you watch Blair in garbage time last night? He made lots of mistakes. He just doesn't have the focus or basketball IQ you need to fit in with the Spurs.

According to some, all his mistakes are due to physical limitations and not his butthurt attitude.

Exactly what I think. Blair is a nice guy with no ACL and he is in a contract year. He needed some playing time to show his value for his, maybe, first and last "big" contract next year.
He will not have a long career, and I think the "no trade" situation is an absolutely terrible news for him and his future...

I wonder if his agent would have been paid a percentage if a deal was done. If so, then I understand why his agent would be disappointed.

Blair needed some playing time to raise his value for his next year contract.
His limited minutes with the Spurs (mostly in garbage time) will cost him, and his agent, a lot of money.

The Blair hate is getting out of hands. Has he looked uninterested in some games this year? Sure, but he's only human. Everyone would be disappointed if they were once starting for title contender and now all they get is garbage time minutes. I wish him the best. Too bad things didn't work out here. I really wish he worked on his weight and jumper his first two years here, instead of finally seeming to get it this year.

Yes, he made mistakes last night but that is due to lack of playing time! I like DeJuan and I understand the frustration of not playing! You see Bonner get playing time and he's worthless! I hope he goes to a team to where he will play! What's with all of the hate? I remember a time when everyone loved him and now since he wants to be traded, he's hated, but can you blame him if you were the starting Center and then barely get any minutes! So he asked the Spurs to be traded! He wants to play and it's obvious that this is not an option here! He's always ready when they put him on the floor and he's has amazing chemistry with Manu on the floor! All the best for Blair!

The hate for Blair here is way to much tbh, he is actually a better player then allot are making him out to be. Blair has given the Spurs much for his price. I think he has done pretty well giving the minutes he has been getting. On the right team I think he could be a pretty good contributor. Dude may not be an elite player but he is not garbage.

Blair is pretty emo (on Twitter at least), but I think he's handled things well this season. He actually roots hard for the team too when he's on the bench. The Blair hate is definitely way worse than it needs to be. He's pretty much done as a Spur after the season so I hope he finds a team he fits in with.

I haven't seen a lot written concerning Baynes getting the clean up minutes against the Suns and Blair getting the DNP-coaches decision. It's also been quiet about Blair's future. Is it clear now that the Spurs are content with Dejuan riding the pine for the remainder of the season if for nothing else, insurance purposes? I wonder if the Spurs would let him walk if he ask?
