I'm definitely intrigued by these. I hope Google can deliver on the goal of having them available by the end of 2013. Anyone else looking forward to these? Or will they go the way of the bluetooth headset??

I am intrigued by this, but I still can't see myself wearing it yet (even if I had the cash). It does look VERY cool though and I can see uses for it. I hate when I am taping something cool (my daugher's dance recital, for example) and I realize I haven't watched one minute of her performance because I am looking at a screen on a camera or camera phone to make sure I am getting the shot.

Here is a pretty good article about it from the verge.

(yes they use a similar example to the one I just provided in the article, but it is somethign I noticed before.)

That looks freaking awesome. I won't be an early adopter, but I'd definitely like to get a pair when they get the size of the hardware down farther so I don't have this big annoying plastic block right by my right ear.

No me gusta. It's stuff like this that makes me feel like a luddite.

Doesn't Paramount and the Dominion, in the gamma quadrant, already have the patent on such a devise?

Shit looks lame as fuck, tbh... Google is tripping if they think anyone is going to want to wear that ugly thing in public....

who would want this and why? you like to hold a screen right in front of your eye? Like we need more dumbasses walking around staring at a screen.

The entire point of it is to stop that. The article I posted above has info about their goals.

yeah i still don't see how having something right in your face will be any less of a distraction.

"ok glass, google images of tigers. But i totally won't look at them or be distracted by a google image search in my eye"

If I had a pair of those I wouldn't have had to open a separate tab to google "luddite". I must have a pair now.

Nintendo's stealing this as we type. Get ready for the next gen Virtual Boy, Sii-U!

Definitely looking forward to these toys. Once you have a HUD in your eye you just won't go back

Meh I'd rather buy an oculus rift for way less money. Obviously not the same thing at all and but the rift seems like a much cooler gadget.

Also it looks retarded, would be better as dark sunglasses with the hole of the camera being perfectly hidden and no weird thing behind the ear.

Some possible applications for Google Glass.... http://www.fastcompany.com/3006477/if-we-had-glass-what-wouldnt-we-do

"A daily calorie tracker. A lifeline to a 911 operator. A real-time sign language translator. These are just a few of the thousands of entries submitted to Google (http://fastcompany.com/company/google)'s If I Had Glass (http://www.google.com/glass/start/how-to-get-one/) competition, which ended on Wednesday. The competition was an open call in search of early-access testers, or Glass Explorers, for the highly anticipated augmented reality headset (http://www.fastcompany.com/1838801/inside-google-xs-project-glass-part-i) the company says will be on sale (http://www.fastcompany.com/3006189/fast-feed/google-glass-will-be-sale-end-2013-cost-less-1500) by the end of 2013."
