View Full Version : What can we get for Tony Parker?

As expected, Mills and DeColo are fine for the limited role we need from a PG... bringing in a few more defensive players would probably put us over the top... something like this:

Then again it's not easy since TP is the most underpaid superstar in the league...

Yeah much harder to gameplan vs a offense that run through a SG who can't bring the ball up the court and is extremely turnover/injury prone...

Yeah it is a team, so by your logic Bonner is just as important as TONY!!!!!!!!!! I mean no player on a team can be head above heals better than some can they? I guess every team doesn't have a best player on it!!!!!!

It's the sum of the parts... Bonner is certainly a bad player that should be traded. I didn't call Tony that.

Tony is a talented guy but this team only needs a PG that brings the ball up and starts running the system. Colo/Mills can do that (as seen today).

Tony is also in his prime, highly hyped up, and has a sizeable contract which makes him a good trade bait. This is not personal, just simple economics, tbh.

This is one game in the sum of things, Mills is not a PG! Colo might be good at it but can he do it full time? Cojo? I would agree if they showed it regularly and then maybe then consider a asnine trade for Tony, but with his mileage on him spite age what could you get honestly? Equal value? I doubt it, seriously doubt it. The trade deadline is over as well man, so why even think about a trade now? He is our best player this year, he is here and we are rolling with what we got, which is ALOT IMO.

I like TP9, hes a over the top player, but what we have to ask our self is the next 2 questions; When was the last time a team without a dominant Big won a championship? Or even better; When is the last time a team with a PG as their top scorer won a championship?.
The answer to that question is; Chicago, and thats only because of MJ. Every other team had a dominant Big, even Kobe couldnt do it, he need it Shaq and Gasol, and the heat did it with Bosh, and maybe their offense doesnt run through him, but he dominants the paint, and yes, we dont.
Again, without interior defense and rebounds theres no championship. We can win all 82 games in the regular season without a dominant Big, but we cannot win a Championship....... mark my words....

In the Bulls second three-peat MJ operated more out of the post with his fadeaway jumpshot. And Lebron didn't win till he started operating out of the post and getting easy baskets or finding other for open shots. In '11 Dirk operated out of the high post and scored or got his teammates open shots. Those goto baskets are important in winning a championship.

I don’t care if ElNono is trolling or not...
At some point the Spurs need to start rebuild and TP is the perfect player for that.
Every year spursfans assume this is their last chance to win it all and every year they are wrong and somehow the Spurs can fight another year. Eventually, they are going to be right.
If the Spurs wait until TD and Manu retires, TP is going to be older and his value won’t be as much as it is now. The Spurs could use the extra space to get FAs...or they could decide not to wait until that happens and trade TP at the end of the season.
I’m not saying is a good idea, all I’m saying is that is something to think about.

Without the Big 3 + Jackson this is the team right now:
- NDC/Mills/Cojo
- Green / Neal
- Kiwi / Blair
- Diaw/Bonner
- Tiago/Baynes

Like I said...not sure if that’s the best idea, but is not crazy to at least talk about it.
I’ve seen craziest threads than this one with more pages...
