The only way it happens is if the Spurs go on an unbelievable run to finish the season, something like 20-4, with Parker continuing his dominant play from February, while at the same time, the Heat finish poorly. If the Spurs finished 65-17 and the Heat "struggled" to 57-25, and Parker finished the season having averaged 23/8, I could see the upset.
But if the status quo prevails, with Parker and the Spurs and James and the Heat all finishing well, James wins it by default as the best player.

Tony Parker will come in second only because right how, Lebron is turning it up and looks like a beast and while Parker is playing like a beast, it's Lebron, come on now.
Anyone read this other yahoo article? :
"Tony Parker’s awesome, but he’s not the MVP, and that’s OK"
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/tony-parker-awesome-not-mvp-ok-210009489--nba.html
Dan Devine got a ton of backlash to the point where he went on the CBS podcast to talk about it. Yahoo Sports didn't even have Tony Parker in their preseason top 10 PG's and that's low for even a COM tbh
Tony Parker was ranked no. 14 for best PGs in Yahoo Sports preseason rankings.... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/preseason-ranks--point-guard.html

LeBron's PER in the month of February was 37.
37.
Stop and consider that for a moment. A borderline all-star's PER is 20. LeBron was essentially two all-stars on the same team with 4 other guys on the court. Michael Jordan's best season was in the ~31 PER realm. Obviously he had great stretches too, but I wonder how many players have been above 35 for an entire month.
Parker has been phenomenal this season. If this was still the Steve Nash MVP era, he'd have a pretty good shot.
But it's not. It's the LeBron era, and I don't see him winning less than 7-8 MVPs by the time he's done. Remember, LeBron is still improving as a player, too. Scary.
No shame in being runner-up MVP when Jordan was playing. No shame in being runner-up now.

While I agree with what you're saying, I just have to throw up a little bit with comparing James to MJ, using PER, and referencing the infamous Steve Nash Media Valuable Player awards
James has freaking D-Wade who has a PER of 24.3 which is only slightly higher than Duncan's, but D-Wade played more games and averages more minutes. And they get to beat up on the East. Parker has a shot for MVP....if he was wearing a Bulls jersey anyway
Parker deserves it for the same reasons Derrick Rose did but I guess that falls into the Allen Iverson/Steve Nash/Kobe Bryant MVP territory of controversial winners. Parker's been improving, led his team to the best record in the tougher conference, while other Spurs have been injured, and Parker had his own impressive stat streak too.

The real Lebron competitor is Jordan. With only one ring, how would you justify he has more MVP than MJ his 6 rings and GOAT status?
Lebron will be this season MVP. But if he is not NBA champion... Voters may start wondering if the guy really deserves or 8.
37 Per is actually impressive. About PER would someone know what is Parker PER for february?

A very small word in their defense, because their list was still inaccurate, that was a fantasy BB PG ranking. Fantasy BB value doesn't necessarily reflect real-world value. Someone like Rudy Gay is a top-tier player in a lot of fantasy systems.

The 2nd best player on Jordan's Bulls was Scottie Pippen.
The 2nd best player on LeBron's Cavs was Mo Williams.
Bit of a disparity there, don't you think?

Don't confuse disrespect with a lack of hoopla. Duncan is a lock for a top 10 player of all-time. Yes, he was not given his proper due, but until this season Parker hasn't even been listed in the top tier of PGs by the media.

Parker's PER for February is 32.37, which is also pretty damn good and he doesn't have D-Wade playing 34 MPG either, btw Dwade averaged 28.6 PER in Feb and didn't miss a game

1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. Chris Paul
4. James Harden
No one else is even worth mentioning. Certainly not Tony Parker. The Spurs have six guys playing at a high level, but NONE of them are playing "spectacular".

I agree on that. If he wins more rings with the Heat (and I think he will) he may win all these MVP.
If he doesn't... I don't know

TP should win because he's been more valuable to his team's success than lebron has, but we all know he won't win.

If an opposing team could take away one player from the Spurs, you think ANY team would pick Tony Parker?
He's not even the MVP of his team.

A PER of 30+ isn't "spectacular" in dsf's book. A PER of 30+ is a legit MVP candidate every single year in the NBA.
I bet there might be a total of 2 Suns players to ever post that for a month. Maybe only Nash.

It's LeBron, if it's someone else it's the same reason that Rose won the MVP in 2011, people got bored of voting for the best player, and underrated the value of good role players in contributing to winning. The Spurs have a great roster so they have no bad minutes(Gary Neal is the worst player, and he's still OK), and people focus on the lack of a high mpg second star(Duncan and Ginobili's limited minutes is a factor) rather than the fact that all of the spurs are good(likewise, the Bulls had Noah-Boozer/Asik-Gibson in the frontcourt, with Deng soaking up SF minutes). The Heat play Norris Cole, and Norris Cole is terrible. Having Wade is great, but having Norris Cole should factor in(a smaller amount) and it doesn't.

link? I'm sure duncan does not rank in top 10 GOAT on most media experts list
In typical fashion for the Spurs, Lebron will get it this year as Parker gets passed over. Then next year will commence the passing out of the MVP like candies to other players, but Parker won't have the same caliber season.
This is Parkers one shot.

It's borderline, but he's #10 on the first list I found Googling "NBA greatest players":

How serious is this TP being guarded by bigger guys thing? Everyone seems to be talking about it now and it's not even a new strategy yet he can't seem to make it work. Is it that easy to stop him? If so, the talk of him being a dominant player needs to severely subside.

It's been happening since 2004.
