The second to the last regular season game for the Lakers is the Spurs. Let's say the Spurs going into the game have already clinched the number one seed in the West and have no significant injuries. If the Spurs win the Lakers are out of the playoffs. If the Lakers win they clinch the 8th seed.

Do the Spurs mail it in, rest players and let the Lakers become their first round opponent?
Do the Spurs go all out to win the game, send the Lakers to the lottery with their pick going to the Suns?
What would you do? What do you think Pop would do?

Well you'd have to know what the other team would be.

If it's between the Rockets and the Lakers, it's pretty even to me. If Tim doesn't get back to what he was doing at the beginning of the season than give me the weakest center by all means so Rockets.

If Houston and Utah continue to lose games, theres a huge change that the Spurs will tank that game in order to make OKC play the Lakers in the first round, assuming they will get the #7 seed...

If the number 1 seed was clinched, I don't think Pop would REALLY care who the Spurs played in the first round, so I think he would rest key players. BUT I wonder if the thought would cross his mind that if they defeat the Lakers, they go to the lottery and get nothing! Also, it's another way Pop can stick it to Stern and remove one of his favorite big market teams from the playoffs.
