What's the silliest, most outrageous thing you've seen other writers write about our players? I can't believe some of these guys get paid to write. You would think they would have a little more pride in their work than to spew out some garbage analysis and do some research and actually WATCH BASKETBALL.

- praising Gary Neals elite athleticism
- saying Dejuan Blair has a shot jump
- saying dejuan blair can play both forward positions

:lol:lol:lol

In hindsight

The Richard Jefferson hype. Even got Pop to say something like "If I can't win a championship with this squad then I should be fired"

Yikes

And in before 'Tony Parker is the MVP' Charles Barkley stuff, although I doubt Barkley even texts much less write about basketball

After a decade of inspiring indifference, if not a grudging admiration, one series has suddenly reshaped and repackaged the Spurs. They'll no longer be simply celebrated as the relentlessly resourceful champions, but they'll also be derided as dirty, cheap-shot artists. They've earned it in these Western Conference semifinals against the Phoenix Suns (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/pho/;_ylt=AnwMuvQYH0t.YEJVwpOypjzTjdIF).

...

San Antonio is never a brash team, but it's never been so arrogant. The Spurs are a great franchise, great champions, but they've honored those black-and-silver colors in all the wrong ways this series. Right now, they're behaving like they're bullet-proof, like they can do whatever they want on the floor. So far, the NBA has given San Antonio no reason to feel otherwise.

Trading Paul George away. Have you seen this guy play? Remember the Mavs series where he scored 29 points?

What about the journalist from San Diego trashing the spurs for drafting Leonard, and then going on a rant about how much of a bad fit the spurs were for Leonard. I'm guessing that guy is hoping that article never resurfaces.

Which is weird because Woj is normally pretty decent. Maybe he's got better since then?

The thread about where the Spurs should trade Tony Parker for Dwight Howard, and anyone who didn't think so was stupid.

Any of the glowing articles about Jackie Butler, and how the Spurs were winners in the offseason that year.

It took Butler most of last season to finally get significant playing time,
and that was only after the Knick were well beyond playing games that meant
anything. What he did show all season was that he was a very efficient player,
and that trend continued when he started to get more minutes. He shoots a very
high percentage from the field, he’s a solid rebounder, and he even hits a high
percentage of his free throws. These are all attributes that should make him
someone who would earn minutes in Gregg Popovich’s rotation. The Spurs’ scouts
were very high on him this summer – now it’s just up to his coach to have some
confidence in him, as well.

Neither Fabricio Oberto nor Francisco Elson has shown a particular knack for
starting at the center position. They can hold down the middle, but that’s about
all. Popovich seems to be over the Oberto scenario, choosing lately to start
Elson, but Elson isn’t doing any better. In four starts he’s averaging just 5.8
points and 6.0 rebounds per game – not much better than his numbers in ten fewer
minutes per contest off the bench: 4.9 points and 5.1 rebounds.

Time to give Jackie a chance?

He can’t be any worse than the two players who are in the rotation now.

The Woj article is beyond shameful, and is easily the most outrageous. The silliest would probably be Kevin Blackistone saying the Spurs are the exact same team that got bounced by Memphis two years ago.

I remember that article, it was some stupid San Diego commentator who was claiming that Kawhi deserved better than to be stuck on the Spurs. It's one of the few times I've actually taken the time to respond to one of the asinine articles written by hometown reporters, but it was rather horrific. Guy acted like the Bobcats had drafted him.
