“He’s going to be a special one,” 14-time All-Star Tim Duncan said of Leonard, the 21-year-old who stands 6-foot-7. “He’s developed so quickly, and he has loads of ways to go. He could do a lot more.”

He's my favorite Spur other than Tim Duncan.

And to think there was even a debate here at SDSU that he should leave early, how comical...LOL.

I think my comment to the naysayers at the time was "I'm sure he can't wait to play the likes of Redlands, Northridge, Point Loma Nazareth, Cal State San Marcos and San Diego Christian". I think that pretty much shut everyone down.

Kawhi is a perfect fit for the spurs; he works hard, is humble and is willing to do what's best for the team and he'll be rewarded for that. The spurs are no dolts when it comes to potential and he'll get a nice contract to stay and Tim is right he has so much upside and he's exhibited that he can learn quickly and take on additional roles. I can't wait to see what he'll be like in the playoffs this year.

Pop considers him a rookie still because of everything that happened last year, no training camp, shortened season etc. Within the past month he's been switched from just a spot up shooter to having a scoring role, being more involved in the offense and he's doing well showing off a variety of moves that he can go to over and over again.

He isn't 100% either with his knee injury which will probably plague him until the off season, this affects his game as well.

I expect big things from Kawhi next year, the rate this guy is progressing is insane and it's definitely due to his work ethic. If Kawhi was put into this scoring position earlier in the season and managed to stay injury free he'd probably be averaging around 17 PPG in 30 mpg.

He has an opportunity during this stretch without Parker to develop into a player that teams fear.

I can't wait to see him grow and get better. his potential, like Tim said in the article, is huge and he's willing to put in the time to get there. He just needs to take care of his tendonitis this offseason so it's totally healed up for next year, which could be something else.

That turnaround he made from the post in the third quarter was sick. Those are the types of shots that make guys like Bryant and Durant unguardable. Not saying he is that level but rather the shot was.

Sucks that his knee has been giving him problems all year. Definitely puts a limit on his minutes every now and then.

Yeah, I was thinking Kobe with that shot.

I frequent lakersground a lot (or at least, I used to before I was banned :lol). I don't want to say "fear" but a lot of lakerfans seem to respect Kawhi's game as of late. They wish they had him (or someone like him) on their team.

Every team without a star SF wishes they had KL on the roster.

Yep, that showed his progression is really uncanny fast ... he did that for the first time in a game and nailed that J.

It would be awesome to have someone that would hit a shot like that constantly. That way we could stop depending on three's.

We all know POP might leave when Duncan retires.
Do you guys think POP will stay if he still has a decent team, and leonard develops as we hope he does?

Plus-minus Stud: Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio) was a plus-56 in three games last week (http://stats.nba.com/leaguePlayerGeneral.html?&DateFrom=02/25/2013&DateTo=03/03/2013&sortField=PLUS_MINUS&sortOrder=DES).

Ha that's too funny... Didn't even catch that. I was just thinking watching last night's Indy game where Hill came up big, how it's great it worked out for both teams. I'm glad he's found himself a new home and is doing well

All of this and he's only 21, hasn't even come into his own yet and he's already making pressure shots and showing his potential.

Liked it until they called George Hill a forward haha

I was thinking the writer confused him with Paul George. Because i don't think George Hill was an all-star.

Edit: i see the online article doesn't say all-star forward, but i am pretty sure the newspaper one did.

Hit a GW in preseason against Houston in his rookie season
Hit a GW against the Cavs

Always hits big shots or is always in the thick of a game-changing run
