Bonner, even if they had the same contract. Career Box score stats are far ahead(Career WS48 is .141 for Bonner, .059 for Bargnani), Advanced +/- stats generally show Bargnani as one of the worst players in the NBA (Around a replacement level player who you should be able to get for the minimum) while Bonner is generally a positive(And considering replacement level is normally a roughly -3.0/-3.5 player(per 100 possessions) being positive is huge.

Bargnani might have initially been more talented, but Bonner is a far, far superior player.

And choking in the playoffs aside Bonner sticks to his role as a stretch 4. The Raps have tried to use him as a franchise player to no avail. :lmao

What a horrible decision it looks to have picked him over Aldridge

I remember reading about Aldridge and Bosh working out before the draft.

Calderon/lol/Garbajosa/Aldridge/Bosh would be a great team tbh.

I agree that it's not a discussion. I disagree with the conclusion you come to.

While I'll easily agree Bargs is not #1 option quality, its not his fault he's been asked to do something above his capacity. If the Spurs made Bonner their #1 option and ran the offense through him, I'm sure he'd look terrible too. Bonner is given such a small, specific role, whereas Bargs is asked to do a lot. Even though he's not team-leading material, he has had seasons where he put up 18, 20 points per game on somewhat respectable shooting percentages. If a team used Bargs correctly and limits his role he'd be more efficient. We have seen Bonner's ceiling tbh, and its 15-20 minutes per game of mediocre D and nothing but spot up 3's. Bargs could do the same with more dimensions to offense, and he's not afraid to challenge shots on the other end. Not a good defender, but at least gets up there and tries to block shots here and there

If they'd both be getting the same contract then Bargnani, easily.

bargnani has a much higher ceiling that bonner tbh. if i were the coach then choosing barg over bonner would be a no brainer for me, while if i were the GM or owner of the team, it would probably be a tough choice to make
