^^^because surely beating a below-average east conference team means we will never miss our MVP!!

In all seriousness though, this whole "Tony Parker for MVP" thing has been blown seriously out of proportion. There's no doubt Tony Parker is the best player on the team with the best record in the league, but this whole notion of him being the MVP as a consequence of that is totally inconsistent with the team-oriented, system team that Pop has created.

I'm not saying Tony Parker is expendable, by any stretch of the imagination. Just that the true MVP of this team is the system, rather than any one player, and that we won't miss Tony nearly as much as most people seem to believe. And before I get blasted for this, I'll add that we're still not going anywhere in the playoffs without him.

I agree with your first paragraph. There's no way TP was going to be the MVP. The NBA has been deciding whether to give to to LeBron or Durant all season. No one else had a chance unless Melo led the Knicks to the top seed.

I definitely don't agree with the second paragraph though. It was quite clear we sorely missed Parker last night. We didn't miss him against the Pistons because they suck, but the Spurs looked really awful until late in the 3rd quarter. Their main nemesis was turnovers. . .which Parker doesn't do very much of. We got lucky and started the 4th with a couple threes to demoralize the Bulls which came right after we got pretty lucky in that the Bulls started to chuck ill-advised threes in the 3rd when they weren't hitting some of their fairly clean looks.

We were fortunate to win that last game. Had we faced a team with a real offense and still gave up that many turnovers, we would've easily lost imo. There's a chance we'll lose b2b games next week when we play OKC then have to go to Minnesota to play the Wolves. Without TP, we're going to struggle against them. The Portland game is going to be difficult too. Then the Warriors, and the last 4 games this month and 2 of the first 3 next month will all be brutal. We may tank really hard at that point if TP isn't back yet.

Tony's stats the last few games have been pretty crappy.

0 ppg, 0 rpg, 0 apg

It's like hes not even on the court at all.

Agreed, just get it over with and cut him already. I doubt we can get anything back for him from a trade with stats like that, tbh. I mean, he's done absolutely NOTHING the last couple games. Pathetic.

I bet that if TD and Manu retire next season, this thread could get very serious quickly.

Manu is going to play for two more seasons, likely (according to him). I'd expect Timmy to do the same.

This is either a troll thread or a very confused person. Tony is playing at top-caliber right now and despite injury, pulling him out is a big no.
