You're comparing a bigman to a guard. Start over. Tim Duncan doesn't have the body that Kobe has, and Kobe doesn't bang in the paint like Duncan does. Duncan doesn't shoot 10 3pt shots a game.
Besides, Kobe should be fresh, he's got the league's best players to do his work for him and has had that for every year except 2006. If anything, you should be pissed that the Lakers are struggling trying to get to the playoffs with that ensemble. Imagine that ensemble in SA playing Pop's system. They'd rival the 72 win Bulls.
Meanwhile Tim, with that broken down cast of misfits, has the best record in the league and has never missed the playoffs.

In a way, what they're doing is kind of sadistic to Lakers fans. Only thing these kind of shitty wins accomplish is giving the more retarded Laker fans (whitemamba, Bynumite, Jeffs from LG, etc) false hope. Good points all TBH with one small niggle. They don't play with (playoff or otherwise) effort or intelligence from the start of games leading to eeking out wins against bad teams and moral victories against good teams. Playoff effort, heart, and smarts doesn't result in giving up 71 and 67 in back to back first halves. They'll fulfill Kobe's playoff guarantee but no more.

I just wonder how long Kobe can go on putting up 40+ mins a night without tiring out. Not sure how fresh he will be for the playoffs, assuming the Lakers make it.
What's worse:
1. Lakers miss playoffs
2. Lakers make playoffs but get swept in the 1st round by a team that doesn't make it to the WCF
Financially, the 1st is worse. For fans, you have the bible bastard maker as a scapegoat, and you have Pringles as well (and Nash and Gasol and everyone short of Kobe).
Think about it. It's not as cut and dry as it seems. The Lakers were damaged more by Kobe quitting that series against the Suns than they were the season they didn't make it, because Kobe won the MVP that year and they actually acquired Gasol and won a title shortly thereafter.
So, would you rather send the signal to the front office that "we're almost there" or would you rather send the signal that "well, this shit didn't work, blow it up, make some cap space and lets get some real talent in here"?

Kobe is 1st Laker with 40 points and 10 assists in back-to-back games since Jerry West in 1970.

That's one Kirby accolade I won't argue with. I've always said I take him over anyone in the history of the NBA if I needed a shot from an inbounds pass with 3 seconds or less. Only Reggie Miller is comparable.
Overrated as a complete clutch player, which the stats prove, but I'd be willing to bet he has a higher success rate in tough shot situations than anyone in the NBA over the last 20 years.

If I were to pick someone to shoot a contested 3 when being double teamed with the shot clock winding down I'd also pick Mr Bryant even over Mr Jordan.
Though tbf Kobe's a higher volume 3 shooter so he relishes D'Antoni's scheme - less long 2s, more 3s, post ups, and slashing.
