I'll deviate from the mainstream opinion here and say the Lakers find themselves in another shootout. I see the Raps heading into the 4th with a slight lead. Lakers and Raps exchange buckets for the next 8 minutes. Lakers pull away in the last 2 minutes, and we get the usual semen storm from dipshit Lakerfans.

This is becoming a recurring theme here...

The big 3 all played well tonight...Utah is a trainwreck so they're virtually out of the picture. If we can get Gasol back w/ a few games before the playoffs this team will be a hellish nightmare for one of the Top 4. Still hoping we hold onto 8th seed though. 6 or 7th would mean we'd have to face the Clippers, Thunder, and Spurs in consecutive rounds.

Don't think of it as an excuse. I'd like to think of it as a truth. Pau can still play this game. The only thing I worry about is MDA trying to turn him into Dirk. But if he gets minutes at center - and spot minutes at PF opposite Howard - it's a win-win for the Lakers because it is less minutes for Jamison and hopefully MWP too.

It's ok if they dont win this year. On an average the Lakers win a title every 5 years, with this franchise you just got to be patient. Small market team fans wouldnt understand. Now, when my Denver Broncos lose like they did this year, that's devestating because they may never return. But the Lakers not winning it all this year doesnt mean much tbh. Kobe>Jordan...its not even an argument. It's a scientific fact

Jordan played in an era where a shitty Indiana Pacers with Reggie Miller, their only star took MJ to his limits. Imagine that faggot ass Bulls team playing the Heat of today or the Celtics of 08. Luc Longley V KG, Perkins, Baby Davis...ouch tbh

Uh? You guys actually started playing better once Pau went down. Jamison has actually been sinking 3s, which is something Pau doesn't give you. Your team is still quite mediocre though. They still only have 1 win for the entire season against any of the top 4 teams in the conference. Let's be realistic here, with that brand of defense, the Lakers are 1st round fodder.

Jamison sucks major hemorrhoid, diarrhea-infested ass. Pau >>>> Jamison. If Jamison's 3s don't fall, he ain't worth shit. Pau on the other hand, is still the best passing big man in the game who can also rebound and swat when his shot ain't falling.

So you'll push the 1st/2nd seed to 6 games instead of getting swept?

Like I said, all you can hope for is a chokejob. Only way the Lakers have a shot at the 2nd round. The fact the Lakers are needing 40 point efforts from Kobe to squeak out victories over bottom feeders should worry the fuck out of Laker fans.

In this game, the Lakers shot 20 more FTs than the Raptors, Dwight had one of his best games in weeks, Kobe went off, and it took a massive Rudy Gay chokejob to scratch out an overtime win at home against the Raptors.

There's is nothing impressive (aside from Kobe turning back the clock the last week) or scary about the Lakers. At all.

And Gasol will be more a liability than a boon when he returns. He'll be out of game shape and still bothered with knee tendinitis and PF.

The fact the Lakers are needing 40 point efforts from Kobe to squeak out victories over bottom feeders should worry the fuck out of Laker fans. I do worry a bit about Kobe having to save LA. When we were down like 14, it wasn't until he came back in the game did they mount a comeback charge. They have to clean that up.

Eventually they will be playing with a full deck. I'm glad they are going through some adversity during this train wreck of a season. These close wins actually make me happy. Why? With Nash on the court, it's pick your poison if you leave him open he'll kill ya (he hit some clutch shots and made some clutch dimes)...or you leave Kobe open, he'll hit some dagger 3s. Remember when you were foolishly clowning his 3pt stroke earlier? Wannagetaway? :lol

Gasol on the court brings up our offensive IQ, efficiency and execution. More importantly he's a better passer, scorer, and rebounder than Jamison ever is or will be. Million dollar question: how can MDA devise a gameplan to have Pau play the vast majority of his minutes at center? If he can do that, we're straight. Big if though.

I'm liking the baby steps of progression the Lake Show is displaying. Like I said, we still have a ways to go, but we're moving in the right direction as a team. 71.4% winning the last 21 games.

I'm liking the baby steps of progression the Lake Show is displaying. Like I said, we still have a ways to go, but we're moving in the right direction as a team.

Towards what? They are still awful defensively.

Kobe averaging 35 points over the past 7 games or so is masking a lot of the Lakers' problems. A few bounces go the other way in the games against the Hawks, Hornets, and Raptors, and you'd be calling for this team to be blown up. I think you're being too results oriented here, and equating wins with progress.

Another concern you should have is the Lakers have seem to become even more reliant on the 3 over the last 10 games, attempting nearly 30 per contest. They've pretty much been a live-by-the-three, die-by-the-three team all year, but the fact they're shooting from downtown even more should trouble you.

I ain't hating for the sake of hating. I called the Lakers a contender last year, even in spite of all the criticism Mike Brown received. And they were indeed a solid team who was a couple of bad 4th quarters away from possibly beating the Thunder.

But this Lakers team is a trainwreck on all levels. Can't defend. No depth. Unathletic. Spotty chemistry. No identity. And playing within a system that has never been proven to work in the post-season.

I don't see how a banged up Gasol is going to remedy much. You talk of his contributions on offense. But scoring isn't the Lakers' problem. And with how injured he's been this year, I don't expect him to have much of an impact defensively (Plantar Faciitis even managed to turn Tim Duncan into an average defender).

11 from 22 from the field is rolling? Definitely one of Kobe's best games of the season, at least on the offensive end. And those 9 TOs were pretty impressive, too. But Lebron's had many games this year that shit on Kobe's latest flavor of the week performance.

Props to Jamison for standing behind his teammate, though. If I was on the Lakers, I would want to create as much positivity as possible heading into the final stretch of the season, and if that means propping up the ego of your team leader, so be it.

:lol - this game isn't even a blip on the radar of some of Kobe's greatest games he's had in his illustrious 17-year, 1st ballot HOF career... and you know it. The thing is, he shouldn't be able to do what he's doing at this point in his career. In his prime, he's done things LBJ will never do so I don't really see your point in bringing him into this thread. Tell you what, I guarantee you LBJ will not be balling like Kobe is right now when LBJ is going into his 17th year - if he plays that long. His game is spectacular so long as his health holds up...but his game won't age as gracefully as Kobe's has. I remember several monkeyballers whose games fell off a cliff when they started losing their athleticism. Players like Kemp, Dominique, Antonio McDyess, Vincanity, etc. LBJ better learn how to play more below the rim before the same eventually happens to him. Kobe hasn't really played above the rim in years. But he's still the most lethal scorer in the game when he wants to be. Why? Because he learned how to adjust his game although his vert and stamina has diminished due to age and all the mileage.

Anywho... More from Jamison:

"He's got two guys in his face, falling back, clean shot, nothing but net," Antawn Jamison said. "Like I said, I dealt with this guy for 14 years and now I think I deserve one year of him being my teammate."

Thing is, James isn't a monkeyballer. Best court vision since Magic and a very fundamentally sound player aside from his mediocre post game and jumper (which he's improved exponentially over the past few years. Fun fact: James shoots a higher percentage from 15 feet and beyond than Kirby). Just because James's jumper doesn't look pretty, doesn't mean his mechanics are broken. The way Lebron squares his shoulders and lifts his frame as he shoots is text book. And if he continues to improve his shot, no one will be able to block the guy in his later years since he's 6' 8". Furthermore, I think James will age differently than Kobe. When he can no longer drive at will, I expect him to transition to a more Magic Johnson style of game and remain one of the league's top 10 players. Thinking James is "going to fall off a cliff" post-prime is wishful thinking.

And why shouldn't Kobe be able to the things he's doing? This isn't the 80's or 90's anymore. Primes are lasting a lot longer these days with all the advancements in sport medicine. Combine that with Kobe's solid fundamentals, and it's no surprise he's still a great scorer. Duncan is similar. Probably the best overall big in this league this year. He just doesn't have the gaudy stats because the Spurs actually have depth and don't often find themselves in dogfights with shitty teams.

TBH in case you didn't know...Kobe is already in the HOF...he got in before a 1st ballot...on a pre-ballot by virture of his shoes from the 81 point game....the HOF asked for them and Kobe sent them.

Bryant responded to a fan who wanted to know what Bryant did with the shoes he wore in that game.

"@4yearsenior I sent them to the hall of fame," Bryant replied on Twitter and @nikebasketball Tweeted, "Here is the proof @kobebryant @4yearsenior #countonkobe" with a photo of the shoes in the Hall of Fame.

Combine that with Kobe's solid fundamentals, and it's no surprise he's still a great scorer. Duncan is similar.

True, Kobe: 5, the tired old shit bag Duncan: 4--is similar.

Only since Daddy rang Vs. Indiana. Before that "they" liked to poke a stick at him and were whittlin' one for Kobe as well.

Uh, uh. Not on your sweet bippy.

Just how badly did Duncan: 4, Kobe: 3 traumatize you?

Frankly, at the time I was all in favor of it. You roadblocked the Suns via that count. Only when I landed here and found your fandom such an absolutely irritating bunch, rivaling the Sun's fandom in that regard did I amass such a loathing and then reassessed the count angle.

I really shouldn't be so hard on you fellows. After all if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have O & 44. Horry put Nash into the boards and it went away just like that. I was walking the fucking streets of Phoenix then, peeking into sports bars trying to ascertain the score without actually seeing it after the old lady had run me off'n the house. What a fuckin' nightmare. I finally walked up to a Mexican joint on Litchfield & McDowell and saw the TnT post game and Parker and Duncan were being interviewed and were happy with grins on their faces. I jockeyed on home and had a fine nite.

Good old days.

This is the Culburn we all know and love. An anecdote told in that vintage style of yours and from the heart, free of catchphrases and one-liners.

2nd seed, Houston in the opening round probably. That means the Thunder plays LA and it will be at least the 2nd round before SA meets a team of their caliber.
