WHY do the blazers ALLWAYS give the Spurs such a hard time?
the way the play against us u would think there top 5 in the west......
but oh yea there like 10th or 11th and not even over .500
How come every time they play Aldridge and Hickson own Tim and whoevers in the front court
Lillard absolutely shits on us too.

WTF i dont get it

That's why we play the game, styles make fights. Blazers have a formula to contend with the spurs, good thing they're not making the playoffs.

Because the Spurs suck against them, no other way to word it . Gold Standard I agree, they would probably take this Spurs team 6 or 7 if they met, scary to even think of to be honest.

Blazers bigs can hit jumpshots
Popovich loves to play to his statistics and bends over and lets nba players get wide open jumpshots
theyre also athletic or good offensive rebounders
another spur weakness
now that they have lillard spurs will struggle to beat them every time since he can abuse theyre already terrible pick and roll defense

It doesn't get much worse than Diaw's defense today.

The rotation after the 1st quarter was atrocious. Oh well, on to the next one. Have to play up to snuff on Monday. Everytime I see Bonner I start to concede the game or at least the lead. In this case, it was the game.

Blazers are not a good team but they are still built to be Spur's killers. Dont think for a second that even better teams built with a similar makeup type like the blazers will not give the Spurs fits in the playoffs

Not everyone in the playoff picture has C/PF that can hit jumpers like that and a slashing PG. OKC still opposes the biggest threat to the Spurs because you never know if Ibaka will hit his jump shots.

yup I can see OKC and Heat pummeling SPurs just like they got pummeled tonight. If the young guys don't show up

OKC would pummel us, Heat would just win by 15 after fucking around the entire 1st half.

Having trouble with a team does not excuse a 30 point loss at home. I still don't get what happened.

Rotations were screwed up in the 3rd. It was still a close game, bad management by Pop. Matt Bonner has no business on the floor when the other teams PF/C can hit jumpers and attack the basket.

We play the blazers again by any chance?

TheGoldStandard

What I always find interesting is that Pop will get mad at players for missed assignments or blown plays but I've never seen him give Bonner an earful for just stinking up the place when's on the floor.

No, but they've clinched the season series 2-1.

That said a team with midrange shooting bigs and a slashing PG always gives the Spurs fits. IIRC Rose has a great record against the Spurs over his career.

The lack of athletic bigs to help guard is a big problem and then our bench is all under 6'6 its atrocious.

Kawhi should have gaurded lillard when he started getting hot.
He pretty much did whatever he wanted

It's also on :pop: and his defensive system. The bigs aren't conditioned to guard jump shots.

KL's man defense isn't there yet I'm afraid

Portland won't be in the playoffs.

If OKC hits 61 and 61 in the next game against the Spurs scoring 136, I'll be a little more worried.

me neither, and i watched every second.

i couldn't put my finger on what was happening exactly - i'm not experienced enough a fan to really catch things on my first viewing - but it just felt like we were getting rocked in a general sense.

as a spurs fan i rarely have to watch the team i love get blown out of their building. i have to say, i have a new sympathy for the fans of other franchises. what an abortion.

most points billed to the spurs since the ATT center was built?
yeah it is pretty miserable to contemplate

J.J Hickson could have been had for a draft pick. I would have even thrown in Splitter.

Live and learn, when a team is that hot, ain't nobody gonna beat them. But sadly, Portland is good for one of these games this season. As you can see by their record, it ain't happening a lot this season

There was a long stretch in the third where the blazers couldn't miss a shot, finally got some misses in the fourth quarter but in that time the Spurs couldn't come closer than 13. Spurs just feeling the hurt they constantly put on other teams, except Portland did it with hot shooting and not great defense. Spurs still shot for over 50% iirc, at least they were until their dry spell in the last two minutes when the Blazers continued their run.

Anyway, Blazers are one game closer to the Lakers, can they make the playoffs over the Lakers?

The Spurs have got to learn how to disrupt a team that is hot. You can't just hope teams don't catch fire. You have to actively work to break their rhythm. That means making them uncomfortable on offense instead of letting them pick their spots.
