I've said it before, but I have respect for guys (especially guards and small forwards) who actually challenge plays at the rim. It's weak to see dudes constantly just ducking out of the way. This is the nature of the beast when you play defense. Sometimes you swat dudes, sometimes you get murdered mid-air.
Thank God in Heaven it wasn't a white player.

Im with DPG, it take balls as a small guy to go up to prevent that play ...
But you see a few weeks back I talked about how an image like that (getting eviscerated on a dunk) changes perception of a player to the general fan. AS a coach I applaud Knight he tried to prevent the score in a game the Pistons had no shot ...a great example of fight, heart etc.
But as just a fan that was as emasculating a dunk as possible.
Sure enough it was not as impressive as Kemp on Lister or Gatling, Scottie or MJ on Ewing, Blake on Perk or Pau or VC on Mutombo or Alonzo because the defender was small ...
However from sheer athleticism to catch that with your off hand, throw it down from that distance with that kind of force even on a little guy ... Wow. It was kind of like Corey Brewer on Fish but 10 x worse.
Note: TBH (not hating) ... catching oops much easier than dunking off the bounce. I COULD dunk off a oop in HS, and in college (not in a game, pre-game only ...and I did not play anything more than intra-murals at UCLA) ... off an oop you can get much higher and just slam. But again damn that was impressive ... just not sure I take it overal over some of the dunks I mentioned ...I will also give Deandre credit for not commiting an offensive foul as Griffin has done on several of his best dunks.

Sure, may have been mission impossible in retrospect and tbh ...not sure he had time to make a decision. Paul throws the lob ...Knight sees it and reacts and Denadre throws it down so quick ...
But I still stand by the heart he showed because in a game like that with Clips owning he could of quit ...

You may be right since Blake is a greater player. That is why I used Corey Brewer on on Fisher as a comparison. Brewer and Deandre are rotation guys dunking on PG's. Both are amazing dunks. But since the player themselves and the person they dunked on are not impressive ... not sure how long it will be remebered either. But still a great dunk.

it won't, unless you get a tiny guy like Nate Robinson dunk over someone like Howard or Duncan. Other good in game dunks are the Griffin dunks over Gasol and Porkins tbh cuz they're legit big guys. Getting excited about a dunk on a PG is about as surprising as Germany rolling over Belgium in WWII fwiw
The only way this will mean anything is if it affects Knight like it affected Perkins. If he's the kind who's game is predicated on minute by minute twitter status from peeps, he's a shit bird anyhow. If he goes back into the paint and tries to draw a charge on a lob like that, he's going to get minutes. He's laughing all the way to the bank.

I prefer Micheal's baseline spin and dunk over Ewing. That one was against a solid team, one of the best defenders in the league and it meant something. Vince jumped over a pussy foreign player who was intimidated by him anyhow and basically just shielded himself. Impressive leaping ability sure, but meant nothing really.

Outside the window within the coach's office, we could see Brandon Knight still on the court inside the Detroit Pistons' basketball facility. These had been hard training camp practices, and yet Knight still hadn't gone home. The Pistons' coach, Lawrence Frank, nodded toward him and shook his head.
"He won't leave the gym," Frank told me on that September day. "We have to chase him out at night." When Knight had plantar fasciitis in the offseason, Frank had to confiscate Knight's sneakers so he couldn't sneak into the gym and play against doctor's orders. "This kid will get every ounce out of his ability," Frank promised.
As the Los Angeles Clippers crushed the Pistons on Sunday, Knight did something that surprised no one within the franchise: Between DeAndre Jordan catching a lob and dunking on Detroit, Knight leaped and tried to stop him. For this, he's a punch line now. He's a joke. For everyone celebrating Jordan's fantastic lob dunk (http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/deandre-jordan-obliterates-brandon-knight-ferocious-dunk-video-040144812--nba.html) over a guard some 8 inches shorter and 80 pounds lighter, they've made Knight an object of ridicule. A widely followed parody account of comedian Kevin Hart tweeted that Jordan had been brought up on "charges of rape & aggravated assault against Brandon Knight," and tombstones declaring Knight dead were popping up on the Internet.
The message is clear to players everywhere, on every level: Run away. Hide. Don't try to take the charge. Don't try to disrupt the play. There's no reward. This is how backward the basketball culture has become, how twisted the value system. This time, it was Brandon Knight. A year ago, it was the Clippers' Blake Griffin dunking on Kendrick Perkins (http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/video-blake-griffin-assaults-kendrick-perkins-dunk-142933829.html). As a center, Perkins is bigger, stronger, and that makes Griffin's dunk more impressive. They gave Perkins this treatment, too. Even now, he still comes back for more.
"If I was in the same position, in the same rotation, I'm going to jump again and again and again," Perkins told Yahoo! Sports' Marc Spears. "A lot of people are afraid of humiliation or don't know how to handle embarrassment or would even get embarrassed. I don't care.
"That's my job. How will my teammates look at me if next time I just back out of the way and just let him dunk when I'm supposed to be defensive-minded, a shot-blocker? That would be a coward move on me. "He'd just have to dunk on me again."
Jordan made a spectacular play. No one will soon forget it. So congratulations and all. Jordan has a $43 million contract and yet still doesn't have one offensive move, an ability to score outside the paint. Yes, he can leap, dunk on little guys. And somehow that makes him an achiever in the sport now. After this, perhaps even a folk hero. For Brandon Knight, who had the guts to stand in there, there were prominent people writing that he had been raped and assaulted and killed on Sunday night in Los Angeles. Eight inches shorter and 80 pounds lighter, Knight understood the right thing is seldom ever the most popular. Brandon Knight didn't run and hide, didn't spare himself the humiliation.
The culture of this sport has never been so backward, never so twisted. Hell of a dunk out of DeAndre Jordan, but maybe the wrong player gets the ovation.
Eh, kids today think dunking is everything. If you can dunk and run, you can play in the NBA. unfortunately, you got dipshit GMs who believe this as well, which is how DeMonkey has a paying job.
