I wonder how the papal interviews are going. Considering the current state of the church I bet some of the questions are really awkward...

uhhh...Father...have you ever sucked boy cock? ever stuck your holy peepee into any underage asses? For that matter, any asses at all? Know any co-workers that have that we haven't already shipped to New Mexico?

When I was a kid I thought it was cool that the Pope talks directly to God---like on a special phone or something.

Anyway I was reading bios on the candidates who are being considered last night and found it very interesting that one of the guys, Gianfranco Ravasi (Italy) hosted a Vatican conference on evolution in 2009 inviting dialogue between scientists and believers. His opinion is that Darwins theory of evolution is compatible with the church's teachings. Surprised me that a guy like that could make it this far in the selection process.

People are "self chopping" in droves. I was raised in a family of six kids and two parents. I think there are maybe two practicing Catholics left.

Once you realize that the RC church is really nothing but a bureaucracy, and that the sole function of a bureaucracy is to empower and perpetuate itself, it becomes pretty clear that there isn't much of God's word coming out of Rome, just a bunch of conservative cardinals jockeying for the big chair.

The Orthodox Catholics don't have a Pope right? I think there's maybe a symbolic figurehead, but pretty much the "power" is spread equally among the cards. Never hear any political power hungry, societal controlling bs out of them do we, and they are the second largest Christian population on earth.

Are these the same Catholics who have major congregations in established 1st world countries like Russia, Lithuania and regions like the Balkans?

Yeah....

So how are those Zoroastrians doing?

Interesting. But do you mean like from the times of the Ottoman Turks and back? My memory is VERY murky about this, but weren't they retaliated against because living under Muslim rule, they were unfairly classified as Muslims? I suppose that may have carried on thru more modern times, especially in the Balkans but I just am not aware of any actions targeting them specifically for being Zoroastrians (as opposed to being mistaken for Muslims). But my knowledge of them is pretty basic; please educate me if you can, I find it very interesting.
