First the argentinan Basketballgod, than the argentinan Messi-as and now the argentinan Pope. What's next???

But in all seriousness. What do you guys think of the new Pope. Good? Bad? Do you even care?
Personally I don't give a shit, but my parents are hardcore catholics and my dad likes him, so I'm ok with him.

seeing all the little beaners bawling over it is annoying. The only people who should feel specially happy are argentinian catholics. I wouldn't feel any sort of pride if a canadian made pope

Its great that the Catholic Church in its wisdom has finally seen a shift out of the Western European world.

Its great that they have chosen a humble servant who is a great champion for the poor. Supposedly he is a reformer too, which could bode well for the Church in general.

Depends what you mean by reformer. He's another in a long line of dogmatic hardliners. Hopefully, he's at least willing to clean out the nest of pederasts that is the priesthood. I have no hope of any actual progress or change.

Smart move by the church. 2nd and 3rd world countries are their future. Ignorance loves order. 1st world Catholics for the most part are getting jaded and questioning the whole "The Pope talks to God thing".

Lol, don't count on that that. If you believe in God anways, adding a man with a tall hat with a direct line to God to your faith is just minor details.

They're starting to hemorrhage members in Latin America now, too. Read something today that in the mid 1990s, it was 80% RC and 4% Evangelical. It's now 70% and 13%.

Smart move by the church but not for what you say, in the last years there has been a big decrease in the % of catholic and religious people in general. IMO, they think that with this election they may stop this movement.

Pope Jorge seriously needs to get rid of The Pope Mobile…
