His defense is dreadful, but if you can use him off the bench against lesser players who won't expose that facet of his game, his offense and rebounding could shine.

I didn't realise Hickson had a bit of range, dude hit 69/146 of his mid range shots for 47%
He has said he doesn't want to be play center and obviously the Blazers have Aldridge at PF. I wonder how much he will get in free agency.
If we only have around $7m to spend and can't lure the bigger names, I wonder if we'll take a punt on Hickson.

He's pretty dumb. IDK if the Spurs would sign him if they had the money. Spurs also play their two posts interchangeably, so he'd likely have to defend centers frequently. If he's butt hurt about playing center, he'd likely get a pass from SA.

I think he'll be fine playing some center, but doesn't want to do it full time like he has to when he plays with Aldridge. I think if we signed him he would play a Diaw power-forward role next to Duncan or Splitter at center.
In the Spurs system I think I'd take a high IQ player like Diaw over Hickson, so he'd be coming in as a 4th big. If he commands $7m that's probably too much to pay a 4th big, although we should put a premium on getting a guy who can come straight in next year and play to give Duncan more rest.
