View Full Version : Death, Taxes and at least 50 victories for the Silver and Black

There are only three things in life you can truly depend on.

Death
Taxes
and the San Antonio Spurs winning at least 50 games every season

Cheers on yet another 50 win season for the Silver and Black. The streak dates back 13 seasons to the 1999 Lock-out (which featured only a 50 game season...and would have required a perfect year for the Spurs to continue the streak). If we don't count that short season then it actually goes back 14 seasons.

Props to the best team in professional sports over the last decade plus.

A lot of people take this for granted, but when you stop and think about it - it's been such a great ride. :toast

The consistent greatness of Duncan.

Duncan plus Pop's organization.

Celtic Duncan would never have achieved the same.

Credit to Duncan and Pop and well appreciated by this fan. :toast
Duncan would have dominated anywhere he went, but you sometimes wonder about how the two created this excellent Spurs team and organization. Maybe it was the Admiral being who he was that allowed the system to 'gell'. Who knows? Kind of a chicken or the egg thing.

Agreed, Duncan would have gotten his 20 and 10 + anywhere plus all his defensive assets but I don't think the Celtics would have surrounded him with the right kind of talent to help showcase his abilities. The Spurs as an organization are class all the way built the foundation for the Spurs success by listening to there key guys, getting the right kind of players with the right attitude and always having the ability to put the team above all else. We've been very lucky to have professionals even at a young age who were willing to buy into the system and the way of life. Parker, Manu and Duncan could have max deals through there career with different teams with tons of endorsements but they stayed true to the Silver and Black. Gotta love this team.

I'd forgotten how stupid you guys got over this silly shit. It's only two things:::

1. make the playoffs.
2. win the last game you play.

Even 1 is just a means to the end. Without the end you're sittin' with the other 28-shinin' fuckin' shoes.

Come on, Culby. If that's the case why do you even watch basketball except for the Finals if that's all that matters? It's enjoyable to watch your team play, and enjoyable to watch them win, even if they're "just" regular season games.

Besides, you know you'd tune in to see the Big Fun dominate even if he were on a bad team. That kind of consistent greatness is impossible to ignore.

Frankly I enjoy the misery imparted to the others (teams/fans/their Media) as they've imparted it unto me & mine. I just enjoy the Hell outta that. & I don't actually physically watch a lot of live basketball. I'm too nervous & scared to watch the Lakers. I'll tape the Suns game and if they lose I'll go back and marinate in that loss, buzzing thru the commericials on the DVR.

I don't watch any one to cite their legendary greatness. Only afterward, after it's quiet and they've left "the stage" do I peruse thru the memories and dwell on them. That's just me though. I like butter in my ass & lollipops in my mouth. Call me a pervert.

29?

No, you're (as the Finals loser) the 29th. The Finals winner is 30.

The Spurs have now had 14 straight seasons of 50+ win seasons.
Nobody in the NBA is close to the consistency level of the San Antonio Spurs over the past 16 seasons.
50 wins in an 82 game schedule = .610 winning percentage.
The Spurs have now had 16 straight seasons of .610 basketball (50-win equivalency) or better.
The only team close to that current string is the Los Angeles Lakers with 5 straight seasons of .610+ basketball.
Unless the Lakers can run the table this season, they will not be able to continue that string.
Miami and OKC have a string of 4 .610+ seasons.

The Dallas Mavericks ran off a string of 11 straight seasons of 50 wins and .610+. That string came to an end last season...and they cannot achieve it this season.

Every year there's a shot a championship no matter how small or unlikely, can't ask for anything better. My nfl team is the st Louis rams so I definitely appreciate the spurs. They've given me some of the greatest memories of my life

^Me too:::

That 3 by Duncan over a charging Daddy was a Godsend.
Horry inciting Amare to react was a Godsend.
Laying down for the Thunder after you were on the precipice as I was being strung up was a Godsend.
