PS: My opinion might've changed if the Invasion angle lived up to its expectations.

Steamboat & Savage. Jesus, Mother Mary and Joseph, it went on for like 3 years and never lost an ounce of force. Both of them at prime. Almost physically beautiful---they were so perfect. Steamboat with the tinge of Bruce Lee about him. Savage, so American that it transcended time and space whenever he appeared.

We bore witness and we were so fortunate. I'll never forget it.

Everything in the Attitude Era was just crazy gimmick matches and a million PPVs per year. The Golden Era provided us with both quality in wrestling and in promos.

Yep, McMahon found out what "we" liked and then he buried us in it. "You want that? No problem." It don't get better than that.

Usually "they" find out what "we" like and then dole it out at their discretion, not ours.

Real nostalgia is seeing the WWF logo pop up on your screen and hearing Mr.McMahon calling it.

I don't feel nostaligized watching Mae Young give birth to a fucking hand, Triple H having dry sex with a dead body, or the WWF title being tossed around like a candy.

Overrated in wrestling quality perhaps but not overrated in entertainment nor great characters. Attitude eras had great promos too, they weren't Jake the Snake Roberts type nor Roddy Piper but they were still pretty good.

No, not by a long shot but you had guys like Jake, Piper, Dibiase, guys who could tell a story. The attitude era was moreso about entertainment since that's when WWE started gearing more toward the entertainment aspect anyhow. Jake was probably the best promo man of all time though.

Of course. It has to be to make it look presentable and relatively safe for the guys.

The Hart foundation was great shit. Jim "The Anvil" Neiiiiiiiiiiidhart." Jimmy "The Mouth of the South" Hart would always take Brett's sun glasses off in dramatic fashion. Little things made it all so vivid and memorable. And they'd do the same exact thing, week in and week out. I just enjoyed the Hell out of the regularity of the program.

Don't forget about DiBiase boasting about how "EVERYONE'S GOT A PRICE", Honky Tonk Man braining everyone with his guitars, and the British Bulldog beating everyone in the name of his mascot. Good times. :lol

Thread

^Oh, Hell yeah. Okerland would call Honky Tonk Man "Honky" just as natural as if he was talking to a friend.

& Dibase made that [act] work splendidly. That was difficult because it was so simple and ridiculous, even childish.

& Elizabeth would always play the role 100% of time absolutely correct. She'd never give an at bat away. Never. In the good days before the split, they always dressed her appropriately and correctly. They never skipped an appearance and "cheated."

The dedication to production by McMahon and his people cannot be underestimated.

They done good.

My pop's reaction to this was priceless. He was a huge undertaker fan and this match made him just disappointed. After the match he turned to me and said "I think after he threw him off the cage, Mankind was done. He didn't have to do all of that other stuff. I mean, he threw off a cage and through a table? Why did he have to chokeslam him onto thumb tacks." Took me an hour to convince him that it was all Mankind's fault. What a match
