playoff run!
Duncan was "vino," Kawhi is an emerging star, and the Spurs, minus Tony Parker, beat a tough Cavs team missing their best player! They only gave up 113 points at home to the worst team in the league, but that doesn't matter. A "win is a fuckin' win."

Meh. Cavs shot ridiculouslessy well only assisting on 1/2 their baskets. Another fluke, though the trend says the OKC game was not the norm.

Seems like every team has been shooting ridiculously well against the Spurs lately.

spurs coasted to another victory without Parker per usual, but i would like to see Kawhi develop into a clutch closer.

Spurs have got to have made some sort of history the past 3 seasons. Maybe most wins that no one outside Texas cares about?

Everyone wants to make a name for themselves against the dynasty.
:lol
I'd attribute the defense or lack thereof to lack of morale and Manu struggling against PGs.

Only bright spot of this last couple weeks has been Duncan getting his early season form back. The D getting shittier is pretty damn alarming.

Like I've been telling moron Laker fans all week, teams readying themselves for a playoff run shouldn't be in dog fights like this with bad teams. And I disagree the Spurs are "coasting." We're about a month away from the playoffs and now is not the time to coast and develop bad habits, so I doubt Popovich would endorse such action. Furthermore, a "coasting" team doesn't play their best player, whose knee still isn't 100%, 35 minutes. The only team who has really earned the right to coast is Miami, since they're the defending champions who know what they're capable of and have that "switch." If the Spurs want to make some serious noise in the post-season, now is the time to start peaking, at least defensively, and on that end, they've been atrocious the last 5 games.

No coach worth his salt would encourage his team to "coast" at this point in the season.

I'm not gonna flip the panic switch until Tony is back, but this definitely isn't coasting. Spurs can't afford to coast fully healthy, much less when one of the Big 3 is out.

it remains unclear where the lakers will end up at, provided that they still have a chance at the playoffs. spurs want to keep the lead in the west but they don't wanna leave OKC too far behind so that they will have the privillege to choose their opponent for the first round. spurs have lost quite some games this season which they could've won with ease, and i seriously believe they wouldve won just as many games as we have if they wanted tbh

I'm not panicking, either. But this team has a few issues to work out if they want to make a serious run at the Finals. Right now, they're playing 2nd round exit basketball on the defensive end.

Think it might have less to do with effort and more to do with the Spurs' system getting exposed? I haven't been a true believer in the Spurs' resurgence on D, seeing as most of it has to do with Duncan playing at an elite level even for him, but I always hoped in the back of my head I was just paranoid.

The system works. The problem is that:
the Spurs are facing a lot of teams with jump shooting bigs lately
Parker's perimeter D is an underrated part of his game, as guys simply blow by Ginobili and Green

Nost teams the Spurs will see in the playoffs have jumpshooting bigs. They'll have to solve that problem sooner or later, and tbh it wasn't that big of an issue earlier in the season. Should it remain an issue, it can be said to be an exploitation of the system, as the midrange jumper hasn't been contested much the last few years. As fot the PG situation, CoJo is a pretty good defender himself and has been doing a good job in TP's stead.
1st round exit (starting to sound like Dale with the repetition).
Non-issue. Just playing down to the competition tbh. Ill take beating OKC and struggling to beat shit teams without our best playa.

Yeah fuck it lets just have our studs play 38 minutes a game to make sure we beat Cleveland by 25 so we can peak in March.

The Spurs have won 51 games and the Heat 50... The Spurs prefer to win more games than the Heat tbh.

Pulp...if Spurs beat the Lakers do you think that somehow further enhances Tim Duncan's legacy over Kobe's?
Not at all.
Head-to-head playoff record shouldn't be considered in a player comparison, since it's the result of factors outside an individual player's control. For example, Lebron James destroyed the Magic in '09, but still lost the series, because no one else stepped up on his team. Dwight Howard leads James 1-0 head-to-head, but Howard didn't outplay James in the series. Same with Kobe vs. Nash.
End of the day, head-to-head record is a team accomplishment. If you're going to compare two players in that way, use head-to-head stats, and Kobe vs. Duncan in that regard is pretty much a wash.

That's why it irritates me when Kobe fanboys say he owns Duncan in the playoffs. Totally untrue.
This is an example of "owning" another player head-to-head:

Only if he goes on to:
Duncan: 5
Kobe: 5
Otherwise, he's still at:::
Kobe: 5
the tired old shit bag Duncan: 4
Understand, daddy-O?

I get tired of takes like this. I don't own the team. I am not a coach on the team, a player, or any other part of the organization. To me, a win IS just a win. That doesn't mean I don't recognize all that it was against a bad team without their star players. It doesn't mean I don't recognize that the team has imperfections. It doesn't mean I am expecting another ring.
What it does mean is that I am a fan. I have the right to enjoy a win and celebrate it. But you pessimistic assholes are everywhere. Which is fine, but the people you are trying so hard to mock aren't nearly as bad as you pretend. And if your post wasn't so obviously sarcastic...Id actually agree with a good part of it.
