I understand that messi is considered as the best player in the world right now, but lebron is clearly much much more dominant on his sport than messi. I'd like to think that Ronaldo is a better comparison, he's just as good as messi, much more physical too.

Obviously when it comes to influence, i don't even think lebron is as influential as guys like falcao or aguero because clearly soccer is way way WAY more popular than the second most popular sport in the world .

Messi, not even a question, wait, is it even one?:lol Messi has won everything, well except a World Cup, but to win a World Cup everything has to go right for you, you have to have other teammates step up etcc. Don't sit and tell me with a straight face and say that Messi has a chance against Germany or Spain as a whole, Argentina has to be excellent in all areas, but they're not, cough cough *Defense*. Messi has dominated more.

Why does everyone keep mentioning Ronaldo when they mention Messi..... I mean seriously? In 2013? You might have had reason to mention his name along with Messi's in 2008.. but after that its been all Messi. The one's who still mention his name are the one's that are his fan, any average Futbol fan will tell you Messi is the best.

Also, I didn't even know that he was a doper:lol..I just googled it and apparently it's common knowledge, I guess I should pay more attention, tbh..

Messi is more like Barry Bonds than Lebron, tbh..he's the best player of his generation and arguably all-time, but there should be an asterisk next to his accomplishments, obviously IMO..

I am a fan of Bonds, btw, he's the most entertaining baseball player of my lifetime, so I'm not hating on Messi..

Bonds is arguably the greatest baseball player of all-time, and he was widely accused of HGH usage without any concrete proof during his playing days, tbh..it wasn't until after he retired that stories of positive tests and testimonies were released, tbh..

The difference between the two is that Messi is a likable guy with a cult following, while Bonds was vilified by the media and hated by the fans, tbh..

The difference between the two is that Messi is a likable guy with a cult following, while Bonds was vilified by the media and hated by the fans, tbh..Messi took HGH so he could grow a few inches.. I don't know how many times that can be said, Messi would have been 5ft and worthless to many top clubs just because he was short. Also, I spit my coffee when you said we're suppose to put asterisks next to his name just because of his growth disorder:lol

So I let all of you have some fun for a little while now I'm gonna lay down the truth.

It's really difficult to compare the sports 'cause basketball players in general have more responsabilites, it's only logical.

With that said it's clearly Messi, Messi at age 25 has a serious case as the greatest player of all time. He has improved his numbers year after year and what he did last season of breaking Muller's record was unthinkable, it was like breaking Wilt's record of 50 ppg on a season on this modern era, and this year he's on pace to breaking his own record again. He regularly leads the scoring and assisting tables on Europe. And when it's all said and done he will have pretty much every individual record there is on football.

it's a tough call i guess since both players have achieved massive successes in their professions respectively. but if i have to pick one i would go with my nigga bron because my nigga isn't trapped in a little bitch's body and my nigga never acts like a drama queen like the little argentinian midget usually does.

on the other hand, messi is pretty overrated. he just benefits from playing on a great team (barcelona) where he gets the most highlights (since he plays an attacking role) while the real cornerstone of this team is xavi, or sometimes iniesta. there's a reason this team has been playing so bad recently w/o xavi, and the midget has also been suffering sort of a scoring drought w/o xavi delivering him assists from the midfield. it's for a similar reason that he has never achieved any legit successes with his national team (dude did win the olympic medal but who gives a shit about olympics?)

furthermore, messi is the durant of soccer. refs will do everything to protect him like he's a pregnant princess and they'll show you the yellow card for breathing at him, which makes him untouchable when he's on the ball so that he can even dribble into the goal if he wants to, with refs escorting his ass all the way

Hard to argue against Lebron right now. He is unquestionably the best player in basketball, likely on his way to a second consecutive championship. He has a real shot of being considered the greatest basketball player of all time by the time his career is over. How can you apply any serious analysis. Basketball v Soccer?

Messi, essentially only has to play offence, whilst LeBrian is expected to play O & D. LeBrian could score zillions more points if that was his only focus. Lets face it there are 50 players league wise who would win the scoring title if they had the green light to put up a Kobe 33 shots a night. How many points a game would Patty Mills put up if Pop said Patty I want 33 shots each game. Messi has that green offence light.

Talking purely Soccer now, Messi is not just the best but the GOAT. Sorry defenders (Franco Baresi, you still the best). The best defenders in the world are unable to stop him. Pele, Maradona, Van Basten, all amazing but Messi is from another planet. Van Basten was near unstoppable until the hard men of the Serie A crunched his ankles to mush, but Messi is so nimble there is no stopping him.

Van Basten was near unstoppable until the hard men of the Serie A crunched his ankles to mush, but Messi is so nimble there is no stopping him.
it's basically impossible for any defender or any team defense to stop him when the ref would call it a foul for just breathing at him, and the midget would've already retired by his 23rd birday w/o refs giving him special care each and every minute in the field. soccer is more of a business than a sport and might be even more rigged than NBA tbh. messi is a good player but he's not really that good as the FIFA want you to think he is, at the very least midget needs to win a world cup with his national team to justify all the hypes and admirations, which he'll never do.

Further to my earlier post.

Too much weight given to the World Cup. Look at it in the following way

If MJ or LeBrian never win a FIBA World Cup does that automatically reflect on their greatest arguments? No it does not, not remotely. Messi's greatness need only be based on his la liga & Champions League games.

Lastly Messi does have a great support cast, but great players almost always do eg: Ronaldo, LBJ, MJ, Kobe

Besides the WC/NBA championship comparisson isn't fair.

In soccer if you're stuck on a bad national team you're fucked 'cause there's nothing you can do. In the NBA you can leave your team and join two other superstars, for example.

huh? ever heard of the refs? they can affect and NBA game as bad as FIFA refs. Maybe more since there's more involvement.

again, IMO Messi doesn't even have to win one. He needs to dominate one and be the MVP of one and take his team to at least the semis. that hasn't happened yet.

I would agree that netting a WC would catapult him to the 'no-doubt' territory. Objectively, he plays against WC-quality competition year round. But titles always count, that's just how it is.

I hate the GOAT argument. Soccer, just like basketball, changed over time. Pele was padding stats in Brazil and had tremendous teammates. Maradona played in an era where players would get kicked the living shit out of them.

Diego had a wonderful side around him in Mexico in 86'. Although he could not score in the final, a number of team mates showed what wonderful talents they were and played exceptional football to get the Argies over the line. 90' it took a German penalty to defeat the Argies. Tactically both teams were sound, there's no getting to the final if ya not.

Messi was the middle piece of a great offence but that's all really and Diego was manager and Diego is no Phil Jackson or Pop.

yes and no imho, it's true that the current argentinian team has a shitty defensive line which ain't comparable to that one diego had during his time. samuel is well past his prime and injury prone, same goes for demichellis. zanetti is still a solid player but he's already 39yr something old :lol.
