Interesting topic, I wonder why it hasn't been discussed multiple times already.

western conference isn't really that good. lots of scrubs fighting for playoffs like Utah, Portland, Lakers, etc

just because we're super good it doesn't mean the rest of this conferece is weak imho. there ain't much difference between OKC and the Knicks when they're in their right mind, and your fooling youself to think other western playoff teams like warriors or rockets would have any chance to bring down the celtics or brooklyn in a best of 7 series. its not just the eastern conference that's weak imho, in fact the whole league becomes weaker than previous years with the likes of mavs, lakers and celtics gradually switching to rebuilding mode. west used to be tough before 11 something when lakers and mavs were contenders, but there's not much difference in terms of difficulty between the two conferences at this point of time imho

The fact that the Pacers would be a 6th seed at best out West tells you everything you need to know about the level of competition in the East.

same could be said about rockets being the 6th or 7th seed in the west imho. the pacers are one of the best defensive teams in the league as of now and i think that's a fair reflection of the competitiveness in the eastern conference tbh
