What I heard from a few reliable insiders on ESPN radio in 09 was that Kobe wanted Artest instead of Ariza, and Ariza took that personally. Actually, you can rest on Offense, but you're gonna earn your salary every time on defense bc it's going to be 4 on 5 all game long until Kirby wants to play hero at the end and actually exert some effort to guard his man. He's effective bc at that point they don't expect him to actually play defense.
