Are the Mavericks the worst case of 1 and done in NBA history?

Since the NBA started mattering, that is when stars put down the crack pipe and actually cared circa 1982, there has never been a worst case of 1 and done IMO than the Dallas Mavericks. The only team you can make a case against are the 82 76ers that beat my Lakers and the 08 Celtics, but the Celtics still made the finals in 2010 and they were a force to be reckon with.

Since winning the 2011 finals, that team got ripped apart by Cuban and has been irrelevant ever since tbh.

Exactly, while the "nucleus" of the heat is different, they have been relevant since 06 and are now going to be of the greatest teams ever assembled if not THE greatest team ever assembled. The only relevant headline the Mavericks have made since 2011 was Mark Cuban getting on The Shark Tank.

A championship in any sport should never be viewed through a lens of failure. The Mavs wanted a title, and they got it. It will look even more favorable down the road that they were the (first) team to beat LeBron in the Finals, depending on how many rings James walks away with when his career is over. Dirk's one of the best players in recent NBA history, but I doubt when his career is over people people will say that he "only" got one. He has a ring. Period. That's more than you can say for Charles, Ewing, Malone, Stockton, etc.
