Need to clarify.

I can only go out so far on a limb with Skosha.

Pujols looks terrible but Hamilton should start hitting. Too much pressure right now because of all that money.

They'll be fine once (if?) guys start getting healthy.

Don't get me wrong, as a Giants fan I hate them but that lineup could be one of the best of recent memory if they all start to produce

Chris
04-17-2013, 08:34 PM
Their pitching is terrible as predicted during Spring training. I'm serious, I think it's like dead last. Fathead needs to go too, but I think he should ride out the season unless they keep digging a bigger hole. The A's aren't going anywhere, and Seattle has improved slightly so this season might already be over for them. Bad pitching will kill a team's morale no matter how stacked their lineup is.

The hole is getting too large.
Granted, the one and only year the Angels won the Series they had a lousy record after 40 games, but i do not see a repeat of that. At. all.

Moreno is losing cred daily the longer he holds on to fatso.
Got to be some great managing candidates interested.

Moreno makes it official.

Owner: Mike Scioscia's job safe
The Los Angeles Angels have the second-worst record in the American League, but owner Arte Moreno told FOXSports.com that manager Mike Scioscia's job remains safe.

"Mike has zero problems, OK?" Moreno told the website Wednesday at this week's owners meetings in New York. "This is his 14th year. Mike goes beyond what he does on the field. He's a good person. He's a good person in the community. A very good baseball guy. You don't have to ask me. You just ask other managers, other baseball people.

"Look at 14 years' worth of productivity. Look at his record. He has two World Series rings with the Dodgers. He has one with the Angels. We've been to the playoffs."

The Angels are 15-24 entering Wednesday night's play, surpassing only the Houston Astros (11-30) in the AL. Despite the Angels' disappointing performance, Moreno said the chances of a managerial change during the season are "right now, zero."

Moreno also denied rumors the Angels are reluctant to let go of Scioscia out of concern the two-time AL Manager of the Year could end up with the Los Angeles Dodgers, if Don Mattingly is fired.

"I've heard it," Moreno said. "Whatever. You know what? To me, if you're going to let someone go, you're letting someone go because you don't believe their performance is what your expectations are. If everybody on the team was hitting .300, and the pitchers were undefeated, and all our relievers had done a good job and we'd made no errors, we wouldn't be in this conversation.

"Right now, in Mike's job, I have no questions about Mike."

How many MLB managers would take their starting pitcher out after he began an inning like this? (Score 0-0):

A Craig walked.
Y Molina singled to left center
M Adams walked
D Freese grounded out to third, A Craig scored, Y Molina to third, M Adams to second. 1 0
D Descalso doubled to right, Y Molina and M Adams scored. 3 0
P Kozma struck out swinging. 3 0
M Carpenter singled to right center, D Descalso scored. 4 0
J Jay homered to center, M Carpenter scored. 5-0

Really depends on a number of factors. If it's really early on in the game like the first couple innings, a lot of managers are less likely to go to the bullpen early on. And if the 5 runs happened really quickly, a reliever may not have had enough time to warm up. So if it's like the 1st or 2nd inning, a manager probably doesn't get a guy throwing in the bullpen until it's 4-0 or 5-0. So there are probably a lot of managers who wouldn't have taken the starter out at that point. Now if it's later in the game, like 5th inning or later, and middle relief guys are prepared to get the call to warm up, a manager probably starts them throwing when it gets to 3-0, and so by the time it's 5-0, most managers probably do take the starter out.

Depends on a bunch of factors. Inning, how many outs, if there's a reliever ready to throw, how depleted the bullpen is from the previous few games where there might be a situation a manager asks the starter to take one for the team and eat some innings.
