If things are too personal to discuss openly in this forum, perhaps a more private settng like the Dr.Phil show will make you more at ease and you can ask yourself, "Self, what is the real reason I don't want to be around my husband right now?".

That would be a great start to the healing process.

Adrienne, sorry to hear that. Have you suggested counceling? Marriage is a tough job, especially for young people, you have to work extra hard at it, but if you can work it out in counceling, then usually it makes your marrriage stronger than before.

Just don't be too honest, like Frank the Tank telling the counselor that he was wondering what kind of panties the waitress was wearing....:)

07-07-2005, 01:52 PM
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! Will you try counseling? My fi and I are doing some premarital counseling now, and I wish we'd done this sooner. Some of the major problems we had around Christmas might have been avoided (they mostly center around his family and their intense dislike of me).

I know people throw around counseling like it's a cure all, but going into individual counseling when things were really uncertain for us has helped me tremendously, so I'd recommend a session or two even if the two of you don't go.

And who wouldn't want a total stranger's advice on counseling for their personal issues? Anyhow, I hope things work out for you.

Adrienne knows how we act in here. We will all offer kind words and advice(Just as I did in my first post), but after that, there is nothing else we can do except try to make her laugh a little, which we have been doing for a couple of years for her.

We have been giving her advice for yrs now, and each time we do, we try to play with her at the same time...it is not like she does not expect this from us.

Shoulda just shacked up like me.... :)

Shacking up versus marriage does not remove the problems that almost all relationships go through. A break up is still a break up even if you don't call it a "divorce".
Lives and hearts are still broken and children still feel the effects of the breakup. Any relationship is a "give" and "take" for both partners and when there is an unbalance it causes problems.

That is wonderful news. I am glad. Marriage - like anything worth doing - involves a degree of risk and chane, but with hard work, true love, and a little bit of luck, it will work.

Marriage and life in general is similar to a roller coaster. There are ups and downs and unexpected twists and turns but in the end, you will be alright. I hope that everything works out for you and your man.

Marriage is a great thing and finding true love is amazing, when you have that "one special person", do not let them go.

Great Luck to the both of you!

Adrienne,

The 1st year of our marriage was one of the hardest.....we almost killed eachother plus I ws pretty young as well. We then went through several really fun years until I decided I wanted to get pregnant, then I miscarried and put my husband through hell for a few months. In other words, hang in there. You'll be ok and if you both REALLY want this marriage to survive, then it will.

There's nothing wrong with that, oh little one of the full round lips.

After all, you know what they say, "the older the meat, the greater the heat!!"

Umm, actually I've never heard anyone say that. But it sounds good doesn't it?

The problem with marriage now days is that everyone thinks it's a fucking joke.

Like it's just something to do. "Hey, let's get married." "Okay!"

They have no idea what getting married entails, the responsibilities, the emotions.

They just get married to get married. To say: I have a husband, or I have a wife.

Then when things go wrong, people act like they didn't see it coming.

Marriage is the ultimate life commitment, and as bad as it sounds, many people have no business ever getting married.

(I'm not making any judgements on adrienne specifically because I don't know her)

But it's amazing to me how many married couples I know that are truly unhappy.
