Sorry sir, but with the rise of international thread curse terrorist Al-Amuse Day Slumber, we've had to take extensive precautions to ensure the lives and safety of our Spur civilians. please bare with us as these early, barebone game threads are a necessary evil, until the threat is banned.

It's called minimalism, bitch. Leave the glitz and glamor and hoopla for superficial showboat teams like the Fakers and cHeat, all Spurs GDT need is the Spurs Girl.

I agree. We will have the #1 seed back tonight most likely. It's not out of the question the Tweakers lose a game somewhere. Reckon it's pick your poison,
too bad for that close one with the Grizz last night. Wonder if the Spurs have a preference who they play, Rockets or Fakers. A repeat of last year's first two
rounds is possible....

Golden State will be the 7th seed. They're the weakest of the playoff teams tbh, so falling to the 2 seed wouldn't be too bad.

Yeah, you're right. After the potential nightmare of Tony's situation, I'll be fine with the #2 seed. Much rather the Warriors than the Rox or the Fakes too.

The 2 really isn't bad as long as we are healthy. I would still rather avoid Denver in the 2nd round but with Gallinari out and the uncertainty around Lawson, they aren't as scary as they were a few weeks ago.

If these two games happen this way do you think that Pop will ease up or make the Thunder continue to win until the final games to hold on to top seed?

I think Pop will just focus on being ready for the playoffs. He will still try to keep winning games but he certainly won't overplay his players. In fact, it's what he did the whole year.

And Spurs clinching or not a top 2 seed today doesn't really matter because if it doesn't happen today, it will happens in the next few days.

Game Notes:

On the season, San Antonio is fourth in the NBA in points per game at 103.5. But in the last seven games, the Spurs are putting up just 94.4 points per game and have gone 3-4.

If anything is working in the Spurs' favor, it's that they will be facing a Hawks team that has looked terrible in their last two outings and will be playing on the second of a back-to-back. Atlanta was handled rather easily by the suddenly resurgent Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, falling 101-90 at home. Devin Harris (foot) and John Jenkins (concussion) both missed the game, and although Jenkins will likely return on Saturday, Harris will be out once again.

Atlanta's last two losses have dropped them back to the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference, one game behind the Chicago Bulls and two games behind the Brooklyn Nets. The Hawks likely do not have to worry about falling to No. 7, as they are 2½ games ahead of the Boston Celtics and the Celtics have been ravaged by injuries of late.

Interesting rant from Hawk's Coach, Larry Drew:

Coach Larry Drew was not pleased following Friday's loss.

"Here we are 77 games into our season and we don't know who we are. All the way back to training camp, and with all the changes that we made, one of the things we made a point to our guys to understand was who we had to be," Drew said. "We had a team that would be gritty. We had to be a team with a blue collar mentality every time we stepped on the floor. Somewhere along the line we have forgotten who we have to be."

Atlanta is 18-20 as the guest this season and suffered a 98-93 home loss to the Spurs on Jan. 19. Parker racked up 23 points and 12 assists to lead San Antonio, which has won four straight, 11 of 12 and 14 of the last 16 meetings in this series.

The Hawks have lost 14 straight and 17 of the last 18 in the Alamo City.

Diaw has had some really good performances on the biggest stage. He played some good basketball in the WCF last season. Same can't be said for Bonner. At least you know the moment isn't too big for Boris. He isn't scared.

The Spurs w/o Parker is more evidence of TP's MVP status, the offensive machine that was the Spurs is just offensive w/o TP. TD and and KL can get their own, but obviously TP made the others look a lot better than they look w/o him in the lineup.

not sure how reliable he is right now but I hope he can fix himself, I also want more Blair minutes, he is showing more intensity than our other bigs(sans Duncan). Splitter just like the rest of the Spurs (sans TD and Kawai) just don't look as comfortable when they can't stay in TP's shadow.
