During NBA Draft Combine SF segment he got a lot of praise:

Great handles for a SF
NBA ready body
Good shooter

Questionable motor but has potential on the defensive end.

6'6" and with a 7' wingspan and a legit jump shot, the guy should be of big interest to the Spurs.

Currently ranked at #58 by draftexpress, which is the Spurs 2nd round pick. If he's still on the board at that point we'd be foolish not to take him

“We recruited Tony Snell. I thought we had Tony Snell. He played with Kawhi Leonard,” Fisher said. “I knew how good he was. He’s good. Everybody’s goal is you got to smother him and don’t let him get an open look. Sometimes he makes baskets when he’s smothered. He set the tenor for them with those early hard shots. He was very good.”

In 2009, Snell enrolled at Westwind Preparatory Academy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westwind_Preparatory_Academy), where he averaged 19.5 points, 10 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.8 blocks,[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Snell_%28basketball%29#cite_note-multiple1-2) while playing with Kawhi Leonard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawhi_Leonard),[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Snell_%28basketball%29#cite_note-multiple2-3) who is now with the San Antonio Spurs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Antonio_Spurs).

This is who I want that seems to be in the general Spurs range as of right now.

I think he seems to check 3 boxes for the Spurs depth wing guys

1) Defensive length to cover 2's and 3's
2) Good shooter
3) Good enough passer(Players have to be OK and willing to pass in our system)

I think if we draft a wing they'll probably meet those criteria.

I don't get the Kawhi comparison coming out of College. Kawhi is a legitimately GREAT rebounder as a SF, Snell averaged 2.6 in 31 minutes.

I like him but his rebounding is concerning;3.7 per 40 minutes. Isn't that the stat they say translates the most? I mean that's like not even caring about rebound with the tools he's been given.

Yeah that is a concern but how can have his skills and only grab that small amount of rebounds is weird to say the least. Maybe since he is so skinny he doesn't want to play with the big boys down inside but he is going to have to get "A LOT STRONGER" and maybe that will help his game. So him and Bertrans are going to be seeing a lot of each other in the weight room...:)

A question he is listed as a SF can he play SG and if so what other then getting stronger are things he would need to work on?

Trending Prospects: Tony Snell

Tony Snell has intriguing potential as a long and athletic 6-7 small forward with excellent perimeter shooting ability. How much will his lack of ball-handling skills and aggressiveness hurt his standing on draft night?

New Mexico's Tony Snell had a solid junior season as a major contributor for the Lobos, who won the Mountain West regular season and conference tournament. Snell's season ended in disappointment, however, as the Lobos were upset by Harvard in the first round of the NCAA tournament, marking an end to his college career, as he decided forgo his senior season and make himself eligible for the 2013 NBA Draft.

Snell played the small forward spot for Head Coach Steve Alford and the Lobos, and he brings a nice package of physical tools to the table as an NBA wing prospect, measuring in at over 6'7” in shoes with a near-7'0” wingspan at the NBA combine. He's improved his body some since arriving at New Mexico, but he'll need to continue to add strength to his thin frame to compete physically at the NBA level. He also stacks up well athletically, possessing good speed, quickness, and leaping ability.

Snell's game on the offensive end is built around his outstanding perimeter shooting, and he does a very good job moving without the ball to get open for his shot, as he was constantly being run off of screens in the Lobos' offense. He connected on 39% of his 3-pointers as a junior and has range that should stretch out past the NBA 3-point line. He does a nice job of rising and squaring himself up for jumpers off of screens or spotting up, and he's also able to pull up smoothly after a dribble or two.

Good size, shoots well and passes well. He's got some decent things to work with and could wind up a decent backup for Leonard. I wouldn't be opposed to using the first on him.

Danny Green 2.0? The Spurs could do a lot worse than a sweet-shooting wing player with good athleticism and defensive upside.

I gotta tell you guys that he's probably not an NBA SF. I've watched every single Tony Snell game in a UNM uniform and he's come a LONG way from when he first got here. Comparisons to Danny Green are good but he's almost certainly got the skill set to be a much better player and has to have a much higher ceiling. His handles are exceptional and he has very good court vision. He was second on our team in assists this past season and was HUGE for us in big games and in clutch situations.

The book on him the previous year was that he would struggle if he missed his first shot. That wasn't the case this year. He got much more aggressive and although there were some inconsistencies he showed much more aggression and a willingness to keep shooting even if he started poorly. His defense improved a lot this past year as well and he showed a lot of determination to make himself a much better defender.

Mentally he is Kawhi Leonard. They've got the same stoic mindset. You could not want more from this kid in that department.

He's slight of frame though. He's not going to bang with many players down low so I think he'd be overpowered a lot by NBA small forwards. I think he's going to be a SG in most systems but he could be a small ball SF similar to Manu/DG.

I think this is a good assessment. I'd love to see him drafted by the Spurs. I'm guessing the Spurs would have to make a move similar to when they drafted Kawhi and move up a few spots to nab him. I'll be he'll go 16-20 based on his combine results.

He's a player in the mental mold of Kawhi. Better natural shooter, but not a real banger/rebounder. The Spurs would have the Bot Brothers with him and Leonard.

I'd much prefer a combo-forward to a swing-man, but I guess the team could always sign Aminu for cheap to fill that void.

Still, I'd prefer Crabbe over Snell (interesting names) if the Spurs are going to draft an American two-guard. Maybe I'd change my mind if I saw some tape on Snell, though.

This was Kwahi's teammate in HS. I wouldn't be surprise to see the Spurs nab him. He is more of a SG anyways and he is like the Kwahi Leonard but if Kwahi was a SG.

I would love him at 28. Biggest weaknesses appear to be physical strength and rebounding, both of which he can improve on and are way down my list of concerns for a young sg.

Pretty much. From the guys projected to be there in the late 20's Snell is my guy. But of course, if somebody like Dieng falls, its a no brainer. I really don't want to be drafting a small guard though. Tired of McClinton, Denmon, Neal
