That Bonner raises his arms and calls for the ball in late game situations is more than enough for me to think he doesn't give a sh!t about pressure. Just had bad luck, could happen to anyone over that number of shots.

Remember two years ago when everyone thought LeBron was a choker? Same concept -- people were making rash decisions on not enough data.

Just because Bonner lifts his arms to call for the ball doesn't mean anything. He does the same thing on defense, doesn't mean I buy him as a defender. Bonner isn't to blame, it's Pop, he runs him out there and gives him way too many minutes.

It's weird, part of me realizes that historically his playoff 3 point shooting leaves much to be desired, but at the same time I strangely feel at ease when I see him hoist of a 3 simply because I know he's put so much time into practicing that shot.

Bonner's 3 point shooting was fine in '11-'12 (34.8%) and solid in '09-'10 (37%), so at least we know he's not totally incapable of producing in the playoffs. If he hits > 37% of his 3s, I'll be happy. That's more than acceptable efficiency from 3. I mean, 40% is considered elite.

It always has and it always will. Every summer I hope and pray that this is the summer the Spurs come to their senses and jettison this guy. While it's clear that Bonner is a severely-flawed, non productive player, who is merely taking up a roster spot, I'm not going to get my hopes up again that the Spurs will suddenly come to their senses this summer and finally get rid of him.

You are thinking of the RRT preview I do. I went back and forth about doing it but I decided not to this year. The gnsf up here were especially bad this year so I felt as if my efforts would be casting pearls before swine. I could probably put together a West preview but the whole Jack situation has dampened my enthusiasm quite a bit. I'll think about it.

I guess one more time won't hurt. In 2012 playoffs, Bonner played in good minutes(1 min doesnt count) for 11 games. We had a record of 10 wins and 1 loss. Pop pulled him and stuck in the favorite thug of all you non basketball people. Jackson was 0-3 when he got the minutes instead Bonner. So for all you haters, suck on that. If Jackson was so great why didnt he lead the Spurs by the thunder. HE couldn't get it done. Bonner was better than Jax and still is.

First of all let me just say that I believe bonner is a playoff choker who cracks under pressure

But I have a theory on why bonner might continue to play relatively well this year compared to his usual April to playoffs choking. This year he has seen his mins significantly reduced and hasn't played significant mins unless its because pf injuries. Maybe, he's been a great regular season guy these last few years and choked from April onwards because his body is worn down at that point of the long nba season

Maybe we'll see a different bonner in the POs this year

Then again maybe not :lol it's bonner we talking about after all :lol

UZER
04-16-2013, 07:14 AM
If Bonner plays well in the POs, its blind luck like a blind squirrel finding a nut. He is what he is, a playoff choker. But even at that, you would have to think its impossible to choke every...single...year of your career. At some point the odds just say you have to play good out of pure percentages, no?

But still....fuck Bonner.

I've been telling everyone this is the year of the Bonner. Bonner usually goes on a hot streak then goes through a low period where he loses his confidence in his shot. The good news, is that Pop didn't play Bonner long enough this year for Bonner to even get hot, which means his increased playing time in the playoffs could lead to a hot streak, with not enough time for Bonner to lose his confidence. I'm telling you guys bank on it, it's Bonner's breakout year in the playoffs!

imo, i think if he can get that layup or mid range shot here and there, his 3 will start falling big time. in the past he just tried to hit that 3 and everytime it missed, you could tell he lost confidence. if he can get a layup, get some key rebounds plus make a 3 here and there, he could be really beneficial.

Bonner actually played solid D in the first half. In the second he got switched onto Gasol and he stuck it to him. However, despite his scoring, what really stuck out to me was one sequence in the third quarter where he got two offensive rebounds in a row. They didn't score any points off of it but it wasn't for a lack of effort/ability from Bonner. Hat's off to the Red Rocket. :toast

Great to see Bonner stepping up. He sucks during Regular Season (as well as Manu) but bounced back in the Playoffs. :toast

Then again maybe not :lol it's bonner we talking about after all :lol

hmmm... please dont get jinxed bonner

Has anybody noticed that the Red Rocket is getting open shots? Lakers dont believe he can hit the 3 ball in the playoffs. Just like a bunch on here. Normally, he is not left open in the playoffs.

Strange new world.

Need to hear from z0sa, tbh.

:lol Watching him punk the Lakers frontline and not the opposite has been a joy to behold. Now keep that shit up.

Oh I won't be pissed nor surprised, for some reason he has leverage in SA?? I wonder what he has on them because by now it's fairly obvious he has something on them!

Yeah he had his moments this year at times, but he still is a player I would love to upgrade from, when the big moment comes he will always shrivel like the bum he is! He did his best this year and thats his ceiling.

As I stepped into the first circle of the abyss the keening on the damned filled my ears. Filled my being. Unto the horizon they waved, black and full of despair. Woe unto he who steps but one step further.

Tbh, Bonner is alright.. nobody bitched about Danny Ferry when he played for us and Bonner is pretty much the same player Ferry was. There's a time and a place for his skillset which is ok as long as he is not playing the majority of the minutes at his position this year. I think the Bonner hate is no longer warranted.
