+ Trust Yet another offspring of the San Antonio Spurs is looking to come back and haunt them. It's not quite on the level

of GM Sam Presti building a Thunder squad that has established supremacy in the west over the Spurs, but one of their former video coordinators, Will Voigt, coached the Bakersfield Jam to an NBADL-best 36-14 record and now is looking to knock off the Spurs' affiliate and defending champion Austin Toros in the first-round of the D-League playoffs. (Had the privilege, on a couple of occasions, to play some seriously textbook pick-up hoops in the Alamodome with Presti, Voigt, Cavs assistant coach Joe Prunty, Spurs assistant coach Mike Budenholzer, and a few others.) The 8th-seeded Toros are not letting go of their reign easily, upsetting the Jam in Game 1 of their three-game series. Voigt's ingenuity in finding loopholes for a competitive advantage are apparently very Spurs-like. When the league decided to give teams the exclusive rights to players in their area and exclude them from being draft-eligible, Voigt, a source says, began identifying players he wanted and having them move to the Bakersfield area.

Toros won game 1

So Toros were 8th seed and they beat the 1st seed? Is that right? Nice if so.

Yep. I went to game 1 and they won it pretty handily.

I did not know that. What a weird way to do things.

Even worse for Bakersfield considering they were swept by the team they chose to play.

Even worse for Bakersfield considering they were swept by the team they chose to play.I guess they were going by their record lately, but the Toros are capable of taking any team down if they are clicking.

Well at least Austin has one team that plays decent basketball.

This Texas-ex wants to puke watching the Longhorns, especially on offense.
