:lol I never did then and I still don't now.
We wouldn't even have beaten the Heat last year even though a lot of Spurs fans thought so.
The Heat didn't even need LeBron and Wade to shut down TP/Green in that last regular season game either.

The best shot this team had at a championship was in the 08' season when Boston won. Even the blind homers on this forum know this. I will always root for them no matter what even if it is frustrating at times like tonight. But unless they get a legit superstar (which will be more likely through draft), they'll be seeing the Finals on TV

Geeez. Spurs are top 2 in the west.. One regular season loss to a laker team that is desperate as hell and now we are fucked? Just look at the way tim played in the fourth.. In the playoffs, thats gonna be regular. With a tony parker, kawhi leonard, and even a manu at 50% we will have a chance. Look at our crunch time line up.. Joseph/neal/green/bonner/tim. Even then we only lose by 3. Calm down

If being a top 2 seed meant anything the Spurs wouldn't have gotten embarrassed in the 1st round 2 years ago. Even though the series went 6 Memphis actually dominated the Spurs in Game 5, needed a 3 at the buzzer just to avoid getting dropped in 5 on their own floor.

We do have a very serious talent dearth.
Other teams have a prime super-star and two pretty good players right after...OKC....Miami. That's what these past 3 seasons come down to.

I gots my faith in timmy, especially when he is starting to play like he was in his prime. You have the best power forward of all time on your team playing at such a high level and you will always have a shot

When he won titles though he had guys around him who hit clutch shots though! A prime Manu a few times and Tony dissapearing or not at 100%! He also had clutch shooters like I said who could either play D or hit some timely shots! You tell me on this team who can shut a player down like Bruce on a perimeter? Who can hit shots like Horry, Barry etc. in the clutch? He is not Prime Timmay either, he is playing very well but Prime Tim would take over a series! He would get 25, 15 and so on, this is not that TIM at 37 DO NOT BE FOOLED! I am sorry sir. He needs help also, he is not getting help! Not from GREEN, not FROM Neal or any of those role guys, infact those guys will fail him IMO! Pop gets some random bums and plugs them in there as role guys, the thing is that will not work if you don't have that IT factor, these guys do not. Diaw is out! Ginobili is somewhere in the clouds the last few months! Parker is iffy! Are you telling me you think this team will do it as is?
You sound to me you are more hoping or wishing they will do it now, you believe or hope to but in reality look at what is happening to this team bro, seriously. Tim is not going to carry this team to a title now, those series takeovers from him are done, plus he is not getting help anymore really out there. They have no shot man, get over that now and enjoy the last few years of Tim out there playing but don't expect a title because it's over.

Well I guess we will just have to wait and see! This team is better than it was last year (yes i realize injuries are an issue) with the growth of kawhi, tiago, and a little bit green. And that team last year was able to sweep 2 rounds and almost make the finals.. I dont think green and tiago will choke to the same degree as they did last year. If you end the season in the top 3 record wise.. you always have a shot. When you have tim duncan playing the level he is, you always have a shot. Im not saying its a likely shot.. but its a shot! No point in watching spurs basketball or being a fan if you dont have at least a little hope :toast

You have blurred the line between hope and delusion. I have hope also, but there is no realistic chance for the good guys this year. They were hitting on all cylinders last year and then were back door swept...and then the team that swept them didn't even win. I can't see how you say this team is better than last year. The injury situation alone should be a cold shower for your hopes. The team is not playing better than they did last year at this time, period. A first round exit is more likely than a championship this year.
At this point in time, losing again to OKC in the WCF in 6 is about the best I would dare to hope for. We all wish you were right, but it just isn't realistic.

I didn't say they would beat the Heat but the Spurs team we saw around the beginning of this season could definitely put up a fight against them. They were essentially the same team as last year with a much improved defense with one of the top 3 players in the NBA. At that point, they most definitely could have "challenged" the Heat.
Anyway, at this point in time there is not 1 team in the NBA that can challenge Miami so not sure what you're getting at here with the loling.

Health was also there last year, deeper rotations etc. Their team on paper might be better, but it is not showing stumbling into the playoffs right now. Last year was last year, I will leave it at that. Duncan is playing at a high level, he will no longer carry the team though or blow through series like 02-07 Tim could do, he is not that age to be able to do that anymore. It is amazing though for one, Robinson retiring at 37 and a shell of him former self, Tim still an all star at 36.

Well if you dont have hope, you dont really have anything do ya. Id personally prefer to hope than sit back and tell myself they have no shot what so ever. Because watching nba basketball and the spurs is entertainment, and its a lot funner to hope than to accept defeat. And im not delusional, I realize its a looong ass shot, but its a shot, and thats more than most teams have.

Does any team have a winning record against the heat during this RS? I think only the Knicks do, so perhaps they can challenge the Heat. Against Indiana and Chicago they are 2-2. I am glad these teams are in the East. Hopefully the Heat get to play at least 2 of these teams during the playoffs.
