Tracy McGrady Loses CBA Debut On Sundiatta Gaines Game WinnerPosted on November 26, 2012 (http://nba247365.com/?p=8570) by Stephen Coston (http://nba247365.com/?author=1)
http://nba247365.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/gaines.jpg (http://nba247365.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/gaines.jpg)
It’s been approximately one month since Tracy McGrady arrived in China to a hero’s welcome (http://nba247365.com/?p=8570), and the former NBA scoring champion and seven-time All-Star has finally made his Chinese Basketball Association debut. On Saturday morning, McGrady scored 34 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and dished 9 assists for the Qingdao Doublestar Eagles. Though his statistics were remarkable, T-Mac’s Eagles fell to 0-1 after he was embarrassingly stripped of the ball as he dribbled too casually with just 15 seconds to go in a tied game. To make matters more humiliating, McGrady would not be given an overtime period to redeem himself. Sundiatta Gaines, who famously made his NBA debut by beating LeBron’s Cavaliers at the buzzer (http://nba247365.com/?p=8570), banked in a three to earn Fujian a victory in his first CBA game. You can watch the dramatic sequence unfold right here…

Gaines had scored just 15 points on 16 shots prior to his last-second banker, so despite the untimely turnover McGrady clearly outplayed his counterpart. Unfortunately, he ran into the international king of beginner’s luck.
Sundiatta Gaines must keep a four-leaf clover in his sneaker and a leprechaun in his pocket. The Wizards ought to sign him to reverse their fortunes.

Tracy McGrady Gets Taunted By Chinese Player, Elbows HimPosted on December 9, 2012 (http://nba247365.com/?p=8831) by Stephen Coston (http://nba247365.com/?author=1)
http://nba247365.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/792_870469_284660.jpg (http://nba247365.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/792_870469_284660.jpg)
Tracy McGrady’s CBA experience has been a frustrating one. Although he’s been productive on an individual basis, his Qingdao Eagles are dead last in the standings. Yet to win a game in six tries, McGrady’s road only got bumpier this morning as Qingdao paid a visit to Beijing, where Stephon Marbury and the reigning-champion Ducks awaited. The Eagles never stood a chance, losing 114-102 despite T-Mac’s game-high 37 points. Beijing pulled ahead when they outscored Qingdao 29-14 in the second quarter, presumably the period during which McGrady sat (American starters usually sit the second quarter due to the minutes limit imposed on “import” players).
Fed up with all the losing, T-Mac wasn’t in the mood for shenanigans. So when Beijing’s Ji Zhe broke out the Mutombo finger wag after connecting on a late three-pointer to put the Ducks up 22, T-Mac hit him with an elbow to the chest that knocked Zhe to the floor.

Based on what I’ve gathered from a translated Sina Sports article, McGrady was notejected from the game for what Stephon Marbury called “a dirty play.” Officials don’t go to replay on these sort of things in the CBA, and based on the video it’s unclear whether or not they even saw exactly what happened.
Pretty unwise of Ji Zhe to wag his finger directly in the face of a former NBA All-Star who has been experiencing as much adversity as McGrady. While I don’t condone violence, those who blatantly taunt others should fully expect retaliation. At least McGrady didn’t go upside his head a la Metta World Peace.

Tracy McGrady, ex-NBA superstar, was still absent Friday due to injuries, as his Qingdao Doublestar lost to Fujian again a match of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.

Tracy McGrady, ex-NBA superstar, was still absent Friday due to injuries, as his Qingdao Doublestar lost to Fujian again at a match of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.
Qingdao was defeated by the opponent 92-95 in the first round. Zhang Shizhang, coach of Qingdao, blamed the weak defence as the reason for the second loss.
"But our players did their best. I am satisfied with their performances." Zhang said.
Chris Daniels snatched a game-high 29 points and 15 rebounds. Wang Zhelin, 19, got a team-high 21 points and six rebounds for Fujian and his teammate Macdonald notched 15 points and seven rebounds.
"Macdonald didn't get many points tonight, but he made up in rebounds." Baldwin, coach of Fujian, said, "Chinese players really did a good job today."
Qingdao grabbled one-point lead in the first quarter, but the visiting team levelled the score 26-26 soon and led by 12 points when the first half ended.
Powered by Chris Daniels, an ex-NBDL player and top scorer in the 16th round, Qingdao managed to make up the deficit and surpassed Fujian with two points before the final quarter.
The two teams were back to draw 87-87 with four minutes remaining. The host team then got no point in two minutes and lost the game 92-104.
Asked when McGrady can play, Zhang said it depended on the doctor of the team.
McGrady, seven-time NBA all-star, got injuries in back and legs in last December and was absent in the last round against Guangdong.

i think they still shouldve kept jax, and get rid one of the wankers on the bench and signed tmac

at least that gives the spurs an extra perimeter big man on the floor to throw at the long players of other teams...

Latarian Milton

replacing jax with t-mac is a lateral move at its finest in the game itself, but it makes perfect sense to them spurs in terms of finance imho. spurs cut 10+ million salary off their book which means, at least in this season, they're at no risk of paying any luxury tax which means alot to a small market team imho

IMO it's actually a step up. Jack wasn't going to magically play better in the postseason (one of my favorite players but the guy is done). T-Mac is basically a combination of Diaw and Jack as he is now, and who knows he might have more in the tank than we think. At worst it's a lateral move. Mind, it really doesn't move the barometer of this team going forward; Spurs are still out in the first round (against the Lakers) if Tony and Manu shit the bed/don't play.

It has come to this for my Spurs: They've brought back TMac from China while Rockets & Lakers fight for right to play Spurs instead of OKC.

ain't a bad signing imho. spurs need some more experience off the bench (with manu out for the season) and t-mac delivers just that.

:lol Outplayed in China league by Sundiatta Gaines

On Saturday morning, McGrady scored 34 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and dished 9 assists for the Qingdao Doublestar Eagles.
Gaines had scored just 15 points on 16 shots prior to his last-second banker, so despite the untimely turnover McGrady clearly outplayed his counterpart

just sayin. still lol @ that shitty turnover

Logical move, they took a risk. Who the hell knows how he'll do with them, considering how I don't follow him overseas, but for the sake of the team whose facing them in the first round, better hope he doesn't come inspired, Tmac was a beast before, according to the videos I've watched.
