Good news. A "Let's see what his limits are" game. I thought he was further behind progress than this.

At least he's getting his first shots off during shoot-around.

I wouldn't expect much out of McGrady besides having an extra warm body. He has always had team player issues.

Good for Splitter and Ginobili. Hoping Manu just takes it easy tonight in very limited minutes (10-15) while Splitter deserves the rest having played nearly every game. Team just needs to find an offensive rhythm and play defense like Sunday and they're golden.

Thanks for the updates! Praying Manu will be okay out there, and ease into his rhythm safely and comfortably. Please Manu! http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/63.gif

Hopefully Splitter is just getting the night off and there isn't some sort of injury involved.

Surprised McGrady isn't playing tonight just to see what he's got left. He sure looks good in those shooting videos. I guess he's just getting a crash course with the coaches and players for now.

Good sign Manu will play. If he wasn't healthy enough Pop wouldn't be fooling around.

Yeah... I wanna' see what McGrady's got tonight as well. Timvp said that all the "Why isn't T-Mac playing?" threads should be popping up everywhere on here soon enough. :lol

I find it very hard to believe T-Mac won't play at least a little bit. You know Pop isn't going to want to play TP, Green, Kawhi, Manu, or TD in the late 3rd and whole 4th quarters. So I think he'll throw him out there with guys like De Colo, Mills, Bonner, Blair, Joseph, Baynes, etc...

May be purely for educational purposes. This is the only game that TMac will have a chance to sit and watch the Spurs system and sets in action, and it's a lot easier to learn as an observer than being in the game.

As much as we all want to see him play, and even though it would be good for his conditioning, he needs to know what he is supposed to do and where he is supposed to be if he is going to be of any use, and this game is a perfect chance for him to let that try to sink in.

Great sign that Pop is letting Manu play that means he's pretty Damn healthy. If there was even a question about his health he wouldnt let him play and give him 4 more days of rest

I don't get why they wouldn't stick him in in the last regular season game instead of a playoff game first.

I've done this through marathon training. The first time, it feels strange. You are only in there for 2 and a half mins to avoid hypothermia. You step in with shorts and gloves and socks only. Initially, it's like stepping into a freezer naked. The machine fires up, and you rotate a half turn ever 30 seconds. When you get out, it's like you're completely rejouvanated. Great for athletes after a long workout and helps recoup quicker when you're injured.

I hope he's evaluated his game during his injury and seen how horrible he's played. He needs to stop forcing things and committing constant turnovers

They're saving him so he can have his emotional "welcome back to the NBA introduction" in the playoffs. The adrenaline from that is good for a few points and some inspired play.

There is absolutely no good reason to risk it.

One game will not get manu in any groove.

Manu is not a rookie that needs "practice" to "be ready" for the playoffs.

Absolutely no fuckin reason to play him.

Manu wants to play and test his hamstring. See how healthy it is in a game setting. If he gets hurt it has nothing to do with Pop.

why can't he test it in the more controlled environment of the next 2 or 3 full contact practices?

I am both excited and paranoid for Manu's return. I'm excited because it's MANUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm paranoid because I don't want him to get hurt. :(

But, if he's going to get hurt again he might as well get hurt now so we can prepare rather than later, tbh.

This. If Manu re-injures himself tonight it just means he wasn't going to contribute in the playoffs anyway. Pop shouldn't get any blame.
