Spurs Regular Season MVP's

Tony Parker-20.4 ppg, 52.4%, 7.6 apg, 23.1 P.E.R,

Lead the spurs in minutes, scoring and assists. Had many of the spurs best individual performances.

Tim Duncan-17.8 ppg, 10 rpg, 2.6 BPG 24.5 P.E.R- Dominant once again, Duncan scoring jumped more 2.5 ppg and began blocking shots at a career best rate. He is the most well rounded player the spurs have.

Most Improved

Kawhi Leonard-After missing a injury set back the start of his sophomore season Leonard showed drastic improvement. Averaging at least 14 points and 5 rebounds every month since January. He averaged only 9.5, 8.5 and 9.1 points per game in November, December & January.

Since the All Star break he is posting 49% FG, 14.5 ppg and 6.9 rebounds per game.

Overall he averaged 12ppg, 6 rbg, 1.7 Spg with a P.E.R of 16.6. His scoring is up from 4.1 ppg since his rookie season.

Defensive Player Of Year

Tim Duncan-Duncan anchored the Spurs and helped our defense climb into the top 5 defenses in the NBA. His 2.6 blocks per game is more a block per game more than last season. While averaging only 1.7 fouls per game. Duncan ranks 3rd in defensive rebound percentage and #1 Defensive Rating for the NBA.

Most Disappointing

Gary Neal-After producing his 1st two seasons on the offensive end Neal struggled throughout the season. His scoring is down and is shooting just 41% FG & 35%3pt after shooting 43.6% and 42% 3pt last season.

His defense has seemly worsened and lost the backup point guard job after uneven play to rookie Nando De Colo.

In Wins 21.8 mpg, 44.1% FG, 38.3% 3pt 9.5 ppg
In Losses-21.9 mpg, 34.1% FG, 28.2% 3pt, 8.5 ppg

Spurs Season Grade-A

The Spurs had trouble closing games and it cost them a legit shot at the best record in the NBA and winning the west for the 3rd straight season. But the team managed to improve internally and change its rotation without having to change roster parts, which would have been difficult with Luxury tax penalties.

Injuries to Parker, Duncan, Ginobili, Leonard, Neal, & Jackson all could have been more costly had this roster not had so much depth.

Nice one, a good spin on the way the season has gone. Wasn't a particularly BAD season for a team with as many injuries. But I just realized Spurs didn't even have a double digit win streak this year. That's gotta be a first for a while, no?

We won 11 straight ending in Detroit. It didn't get any attention because I think the Clippers had won like 18 straight.

Great read. I agree with Kawhi as most improved. As for Neal, it's a shame what he has been reduced to

Its too bad, he always seems to injured or in a slump shooting the ball. Hopefully he can get it together in the playoffs. Either way I don't expect him to be back next season. Mills is 3 years younger, more athletic, quicker and has better handles. He would also be cheaper if he picks up his option compared to Neal could see on the open market (3-4 million a year).
