Mine is MWP. He'll most likely matchup with KL. I expect him to win this matchup. MWP will put his stamp all over this series and contribute greatly in a Laker upset of the 58-24 Spurs.

TP is <100%. I'm hoping Blake has a good series as a result.

lakerfan will pick a lakers player as x-factor and spurs will do opposite. how about everyone picks one x-factor per team
Lakers - MWP.
Dwight-Pau are too good/consistent to be considered x-factors tbh, and Blake has been doing well for a while now. This has been his best shooting season since joining the Lakers and has been especially consistent with his role since Nash went out yet again. He's hitting 3's at a high clip and his defense is not as shitty as Nash's. So I'm giving Blake benefit of the doubt like I am with Pau and Dwight. I trust him to continue his good play. That said, MWP is the x-factor. I could have gone with Earl Clark too, but MWP will probably get more minutes. It's been noted that he plays Kawhi well, and he's usually good for a few bull-drives to the rim or some offensive rebounds. That said, his 3 point shooting is awful, but he does get hot once in while too. If he starts draining 3's, that will really ignite things for the Lakers, and be a serious thorn in the Spurs side, who will probably double off of him with Kawhi. If he continues shooting his mediocre percentage, going something like 2-7 or 3-9 every game, it would take a monster defensive effort from the Lakers to grind out wins.
Spurs- Tony Parker.
Ordinarily, I would look lame for calling TP the x-factor for the same reason I didn't call Pau or Dwight the x-factor. All season he was balling and playing the best of his career. As we know, he's seen a big decline in production since his return and just hasn't looked the same. Pop insists he's fully healthy. The Spurs were a superior team to the Lakers before Kobe went down, so with Kobe now out, the talent disparity has grown, so the Spurs aren't going to "need" amazing efforts on a nightly basis from anybody in particular. If TP can revert to his pre-injury form or even last season form, the Spurs will waltz into the 2nd round regardless of what happens. I was at this game last year, and nobody on the Spurs was playing particularly well besides Tony IIRC. Timmy did fine, but nothing spectacular, outside of his dunk on mcbob.

That's what I'm hoping. MWP should be able to outmuscle him easily and get in his head with his crazy antics. Best matchup of the series tbh. Lakers need MWP to win this matchup.

I don't often post but when I do it's usually because I have something important to say. Now I don't want you to take this personal but your threads are terrible. Again I don't know who you are, what you do, etc but I certainly hope that your contribution to this website is not the culmination of your life.

Tony Parker. If he shows up in midseason form, the Spurs coast through the series. If he doesn't show up, Spurs lose. So many players get their open looks from him, and can't seem to function unless he is dominating.

wouldn't artest be guarding ginobili, not leonard? it'll be a waste to put the ginobili stopper on leonard. leonard will probably still guard artest but he's big enough to hold his own.

Parker for sure. His play will dictate the outcome of the series.

Nash. Without him the Lakers are left with shoot first Blake running the offense. We all saw what happened at the end of the Rox game. The ball just couldn't get down in the post to where they had the advantage. Pau Gasol is their best playmaker. (Not that he's not gifted but your best playmaker probably shouldn't be your PF/C.)

not sure how much MWP still has in his tank but if he could pick up some 09' form (where he led the rockets scrubs to the 2nd round and dragged the eventual champions lakers to game 7 in the 2nd round), this series would be a great entertainment. otherwise it will be a boring & landslide victory for them spurs imho

TP & :pop:
There's no X factor but if there were it would be Tracy McGrady. How he performs will be a surprise for both teams, and you cannot plan for that. All is is already a known quality.

If Green shows up and shoots his season average Spurs sweep. If he goes into 2012 WCF-mode it will take 6 games for the Spurs to close.

I really hate the term "X-factor," and don't know who's responsible for its inception. My guess is ESPN, Gatorade, or Merrill Hoge
Sorry, the X factor is typically an unaccounted for bonus where "x" is the unknown (thus the place holder). Danny Green shooting his season average isn't an x factor. T Mac contributing is.
