View Full Version : NBA: Is it just me or is the East boring year after year?

Outside of NY-BOS matchup there is nothing worth watching in the eastern conference.
At the same time there are 4 intriguing matchups already in the first round in the west!

Can anyone give a reason to watch the eastern conference playoffs before the conference finals?

why is the east boring ? nets bulls could end as an epic series. because 99% chance miami will win the east doesn't make it boring.

because year after year, every team in the east is just boring to watch. I've stopped watching eastern conference games because they usually just put me to sleep.

MOst boring period for a Conference ever was the East from 2002 to 2004, basically imagine if the Heat were a Western conference team right now. That's the East 2002-2004

When you have 30 teams chasing talent enough for maybe 15 teams, more realistically 12 teams this is the reality.

are we talking about the teams now or fully healthy ?

since the knicks and pacers could really win in a 7 game series vs memphis and denver right now.

The 80s and 90s were primetime for the East

80s you had Celtics, Pistons, Sixers, even the Bucks were good

90s you had Bulls, Magic, Pacers, Heat, Knicks

Yeah, it is boring as fuck, because it's fucking awful. Every year, a team with a losing record makes the Eastern playoffs, while 3 or 4 teams from the West with winning records miss the playoffs. It's bullshit.

maybe those texan teams plus hornets (who're geologically more estern) should be transferred to the east in exchange for the teams based in the great lakes region (toronto, bucks, bulls and cavs). there ain't much difference in longtitude between texas and ohio or illinois imho

That's because the series in the east don't ever actually seem close. Last year, the bulls vs. Sixers series was probably the best one in the first round of the east

If the East is boring this year it's because Miami is head-and-shoulders above the rest of the conference and the playoffs are a mere formality. But in the early 2000's there were some very good matchups because there were so many evenly matched teams. Look at '01 when both ECSF series and the ECF went the full seven games. That was more entertaining than watching the Lake Show roll through that year's Western playoffs without losing a game, imo.

The same in 2009 and 2010, where the Lakers were far better than any teams in the West and faced horrible CFs teams like the Nuggets and Suns, tbh..people here seem to conveniently ignore those years..

Question:
According to the rules, can a playoff team have a lottery pick? Can that happen?

Sure, I won't be bias, the Celtics had one for about 12 hours and then he put his nose in it and that was it, and that was all.

What?
Im talking about being in the POs because the conference sucks, but also in the lottery because the other conference worst teams are very good.

Just agreeing. You should be happy as a pig in shit, with your Lakers set for round 2 after facing the firing squad only a fortnight ago.

how much of the revenue is shared amongst owners? the owners in the East, with the exception of Boston, Miami, maybe a few others, are stealing money from the West.

that whole conference is a joke lately. even this past decade is basically a joke, except when Boston and Miami had their super teams.

He's talking about Len Bias, Celtics got him after just wining the championship i think.

And wouldn't they have a mid round pick if they barely made the playoffs anyways? I guess you could technically be on the high end of the lottery if the other conference was that much better.

Without them moving up they're picking 12th. They lost the coin toss to Philly.

If the Raptors get into the top 3 they retain the pick.

Westbrook is not the Thunder's problem. It's Durant. He hasn't been able to sustain & close. Until he can do that, they'll continue to founder.

It isn't just you OP. The Heat will default into the Finals unless they pick up a key injury. Honestly, even if Bosh or Wade were out, I still think they'd get to the Finals on LeBron's back with just one wingman. The only way the Heat lose is if LeBron, or both Wade and Bosh go down.

Fortunately the western conference pretty much has good matchups in every round all the way through so there will be at least a good game or two to watch most days.

Almost a spot on list. I would put Warriors above Nets, but the rest of your 1-12 looks 100% to me.
