One of the best articles I've read. Pop is a defensive genius

We better stop doubling on scrubs like Jamison/Artest and shouldn't double DH unless he is beasting, sooner or later their shooters will make shots

I'm with you... I like it when they don't know if we are coming with the double or not... Howard is not smart enough to make decisions on the fly with the ball in his hands.. I am nervous that 3 pointers will start to fly in for LA. More than likely in LA.

It seems to boil down to the Lakers are slow and can't exploit the Spurs D.

I don't know if anybody else caught that, but on that play that Kawhi blocks Artest, check the entire possession. Check Pop, who's standing by the sideline telling Green what to do (basically, don't be aggressive on the double and check Nash instead). There's a moment that Nash moves to the baseline and Green goes to double Dwight, and Pop is screaming to Danny to stay with Nash... Danny eventually figures it out. It's pretty hilarious actually.

i remember watching that play during the game. i didn't catch Pop's directions, but i kept saying "don't double off nash" and i saw Green with a couple of soft doubles and i was going to blow a vein because Green kept leaving nash

Wow great find. You guys have been pointing out these articles, and I've learned a hell of a lot more about basketball as a result.

Great read and informative. So there are players you can leave and maybe Nash is not one of them.
And do you keep doing it until the prove they can knock down open 3s, or do go with something else to begin game 2.

Great article. Plays and strategy was illustrated well by the pictures. I too am learning more about BB every year due mostly to this forum and it's references.

This site has been doing spurs articles quite a bit this season because spurs play disciplined and smart and have teachable attributes.

The problem with the Lakers posting also has to do with who they post. Howard was not smart enough to get good position down in the low block, but he doesn't have the outside game to play outside. Posting Gasol down low yielded much better results for the lakers, and I am not exactly sure why they suddenly went away from it starting in the middle of the 3rd.
