DeAndre Hopkins or Datone Jones. If neither is there trade back and take Robert Woods with the first pick in the second. Fill out the rest with ILB, OLine, TE, Safety and NT.

The great thing about this draft is that if your target is WR with your first pick, trading back isn't a bad idea as WR is a stacked position. Austin, Patterson, Hopkins, Woods, Hunter...all have potential to be good in the NFL and there will be a couple that slide out of the first round. I've been wanting Hopkins for a while now but if he's gone and Jones is there I'd take Jones and go WR with whatever is left with the first pick in the second round.

I don't want to get excited about today. It would just chap my ass to wait all the way until the last pick only to see the Ravens move back like many expect them to. I usually get to watch the Bucs pick early, but now with the Revis trade, I may have to cheer for the Texans tonight.

Hopefully the Cowboys can pick up some quality O-Linemen in the first few rounds. They really need to rebuild that O-Line. There's just no way around it.

Which one do you think will be there at 31?
Keenan Allen's stock has taken a hit,but he may be the most NFL ready among the top recievers IMO. He'll likely be there at 31.

Oline or safety help at #18 for the boys

mojorizen7
04-25-2013, 02:42 PM
I dont want a safety in the 1st rd. Vaccarro will be there at #16,but i'd rather get Elam later on.
I want T Austin in this offense and as a returner. I dont think he'll be there at 16.
I'd like to see one of the top OLineman fall to us....maybe Cooper or Fluker.

My crystal ball says one of the DT's slips and we take BPA.

Him or possibly Justin Hunter. But I wouldn't be surprised if they went defense, add a pass rusher opposite of Watt.

Yeah, and had they made the trade for Joekel, that would have been a great deal. But they just didn't need another linebacker. This is all going to get compounded by them probably trading their other second for Albert.

Chinook
04-25-2013, 08:08 PM
In this years draft it is.

The Rams just gave up about the same to move up for less value. Miami looks foolish, but that's because they picked Jordan. If they had picked an actual blue chip prospect at a position of need, it would make sense.

Meanwhile, it looks like the Rams are taking the opposite approach from last year. I don't think Austin's worth moving up for, but it beats trading down and just missing him like they did with Blackmon and Richardson.

Werner pick isn't bad. The Colts biggest need was pass rush which he fills, but Werner looks to be a pretty complete defensive player. Rated high on run defense and coverage skills too. With Freeney gone this is probably the right call, although the team has utterly failed over the last several drafts to start preparing for Reggie Wayne's retirement. I don't blame the new regime that much because they're having to make up for the old one busting on every 1st rounder since 2007 but shit.

Indeed. I wanted the Ravens to draft him. But I feel confident they'll get a good player now. A lot of talent has fallen, and I think they'll get a player that ends up being better than other drafted ahead of him at his position. Sort of like Oher and Upshaw.

I think Houston should double-dip at receiver. They still need a speedy guy to replace the player they hoped to get in Jacoby Jones.

Raven

it is obviously wrong to predict this early, but imho the winners of the draft are

1 Jaguars - they got the highest rated player in the draft and their intended qb will be on the board when they select in rd 2
2 49ers - they got the player they wanted and got it for a really cheap price
3 steelers - seriously, how lucky can this team get?

and the losers are:
1 Cowboys - :lol they got owned soooo bad, and considering the amount of picks the 49ers had, the cowboys had all the leverage. Bad, bad, bad.
2 Jets - they took a facial by the rams and while they picked some good prospects, their offense is still ridicolous
3 Bills - they panicked and drafted a qb when there was really no need and to make it worse, they picked a pure monkeyballer that can't pass

JMarkJohns
04-26-2013, 10:23 AM
Lots of teams reaching like hell to fix the O-line. I've never been a fan of that. Lineman can be found in the later rounds unless your line is beyond garbage.

Cardinals were one of the reaching teams, and also one of the teams needing to reach. Their guards were the primary reason the line gave up so many edge sacks, as there was immediately no pocket to step up into, so they had to go side to side, often ending in a sack.

They need to address S in 2nd and WR burner or TE in 3rd, but I think they should take one more guard in 4th/5th, and a tackle in 6th/7th.

Getting Jones back helps some, but not on inside.

Cooper is a freak athlete. I think I'd have liked Warmack, but whatever.

I actually don't think the Jets did that poorly in hindsight, tbh.... that offense needs the kind of talent at skill positions that simply didn't exist outside of WR in the first round this draft.... might as well stack the defense, then suck bad enough for Manziel or Bridgewater next year, tbh....

The Cowboys, Bills, and Raiders were the biggest losers.... I'm also not impressed by what the Pats did, their WR core is so depleted that they should have taken a chance on Patterson, tbh....

I agree with this. My criticism of the Jets is not taking Jarvis Jones when they already have Wilkerson and Couples up front......there's gonna be a nose tackle that fits their system better in the 2nd round. With Milliner, Jones, and someone like Hankins/Jenkins their defense is restacked and they can tank. It's not like drafting Tyler Eifert would have made them a playoff team this year.

Maybe New England got good value for their pick but they needed to draft a receiver who can contribute immediately, which they aren't gonna find by the time they pick again.

As much stink as I made about not wanting the Ravens to trade down, I kind of wish they had. Day 2 is much more interesting when top teams have early picks. For as many draft picks as the Ravens have, they don't really have a lot of flexibility to make a big move. Trading their third, fourth, fifth, two sixths and seventh will only net them a high second-rounder ... unless they're trading with Dallas, that is.

E.J. Manuel from Florida State got the call he was waiting for well before his 16th round pick in last night’s NFL draft by the Buffalo Bills. But it turned out to be the wrong number.
When Manuel’s greenroom hotline phone rang at or after the third pick, pulse jumping, he answered only to find out the voice on the other line wished to speak with Dion Jordan, who was drafted by Miami Dolphins. This is what the producer of The Dan Patrick Show tweeted:

E.J. Manuel said his green room hotline phone rang at pick 3. He got excited, then the voice asked if they could talk to Dion Jordan.
— Paul Pabst (@PaulPabst) April 26, 2013 (https://twitter.com/PaulPabst/status/327786752641212416)
As Manuel told it, though, he said the voice on the other end said “congratulations,” but when that person realized Manuel wasn’t Jordan, the person said “oh” and “hung up.”
