honestly comparing australia and the US is apples and oranges tbh.

and if i recall correctly, this was an interview about the gun legislation law that was shot down, so they picked the most retarded gun fellator off the streets to represent all of the US. he's making you look just as dumb as the rest of the US, boutons.

Agreed tbh, Australia is secular therefore less violent. Religious people are generally the most violent people on the planet.

Yeah, their secular citizens want to restrict gun violence. America's religious zealots can't get enough gun violence.

It's no coincidence we love guns more than any other 1st world country and it's the bible belt that loves guns the most. Religious people love guns and violence.

the US is a much safer place than the international community give us credit for. the fact is that in a country with over 300,000,000 people, shit will hit the fan every now and then.

sensationalist media and the amount of attention paid to everyday US living by both national and international outlets tends to skew opinions of safety.

also, media fervor toward high profile mass shootings and bombings no doubt instills confidence in would-be killers by the promise of instant celebrity status. if they have a 'cause,' religious or not, theyll know it will be megaphoned by the media all over the world.

i think if the guy being interviewed wasn't such a derp, he could have presented a solid case for himself in this comparison of apples and oranges.

but if he was able to, i doubt he would have been on TV at all.

in the end, americans such as myself and boutons are painted as retards.

Pat Toomey Hits Record-High Approval Rating After Gun Reform EffortsA new poll finds that Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) is enjoying his highest-ever approval rating among Pennsylvania voters in the wake of his failed attempt to expand gun sale background checks (http://www.nationalmemo.com/poll-pat-toomey-hits-record-high-approval-rating-after-gun-reform-efforts/#).

According to the Quinnipac poll (http://www.quinnipiac.edu/institutes--centers/polling-institute/pennsylvania/release-detail?ReleaseID=1888) released Friday, Toomey’s approval rating now sits 48 percent, with 30 percent disapproving. This represents a net 7 percent gain from Quinnipiac’s previous poll on March 13, and the highest rating of Toomey’s career.

Toomey’s outspoken gun reform efforts appear to be behind his rising popularity — 34 percent approve of the way that Senator Toomey is handling gun control, while 29 percent disapprove. Those numbers are stronger among the groups from which Toomey needs support to win re-election in solidly blue Pennsylvania; Democrats approve of his actions on guns by a 38 to 25 percent margin, and Independents approve 35 to 26 percent.

On the specific question of background checks (http://www.nationalmemo.com/poll-pat-toomey-hits-record-high-approval-rating-after-gun-reform-efforts/#), the numbers are even more striking: 54 percent say they view Senator Toomey more favorably due to his attempt (http://www.nationalmemo.com/manchin-toomey-unveil-bipartisan-background-check-compromise/) to expand background checks to all commercial gun sales, while just 12 percent view him less favorably. Overall, 85 percent of Pennsylvanians support such background checks — with 69 percent “strongly” supporting them — and just 13 percent are opposed.

Toomey’s improved numbers stand in sharp contrast to those of Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), whose approval rating has taken a nosedive (http://www.nationalmemo.com/kelly-ayottes-approval-rating-plummets-after-vote-against-background-checks/) in the wake of her decision to vote against Toomey’s background check (http://www.nationalmemo.com/poll-pat-toomey-hits-record-high-approval-rating-after-gun-reform-efforts/#) bill.

Although the American public clearly supports gun reform efforts, it’s unclear whether or not reform advocates can turn their polling advantage into actual electoral results. The Quinnipiac poll, for example, finds that 59 percent of Pennsylvanians could vote for a candidate who disagrees with them on guns. Until gun reform becomes a top motivating factor at the polls, there will be no serious consequences for voting against it — and no political incentive for congresspeople to stand up against the gun lobby.

Hmmm... white majority, english speaking, former british colony, same british common law foundation.

What country is more similar to the US than Australia? Everyone is different but if there is a comparison it is Australia. FFS they even have the western expansion, aboriginal displacement/genocide, and rampant racism.

and what do those three have to do with owning weapons?

how do those explain why crime is going down in the US and up in Aus?

why just AU?

compare US gun deaths/violence with any other industrial country with strict gun regulation. results always the same.

more guns = more gun violence, deaths

false.

the US has a relatively low homicide rate.

boutons, can you tell me why Russia has over twice the homicide rate as the US?
