Are Spurs fans really this dense?

1) He looked terrible? Really? A guy that was not in the NBA until the Spurs signed him this year, has not been working out too much, has no idea about the system and was playing with all the Spurs bench looked terrible? Shocking.

2) Riding Spurs coattail? The Spurs called him. He was playing in China before the Spurs called. Some of yall are just shockingly dense.

I don't care for the excuses as I'm sure he has his reasons for looking terrible but truth is he didn't look like someone who could meaningfully contribute to this team at this point. The thread is about T-Mac getting out of the first round and technically he did but he did so by riding the Spurs coat tails. If he didn't exist there would have been absolutely no difference in the result of this series or this game.

Lets not forget, he wasn't guarding SFs/PFs out there and still had good hands to swipe the ball away twice.

Thought he looked pretty good, all things considered.

Obviously he's got a ways to go conditioning-wise, and just getting more reps to find a rhythm. But had a few nice swipes, made a couple good plays out of the pick-and-roll for Blair and Baynes... Definitely be nice to have someone with that much size and talent, even at this stage of his career, coming off the bench to give Pop another look.

Not holding my breath, but it'd be nice.

It was garbage time, he got a steal and deflected another ball on D, looked somewhat mobile, passing was decent. What more do you expect from our 15th man? He's better than every perimeter guy the Lakers put out there tonight.

SpursRock20
04-28-2013, 09:09 PM
Not sure what all the hate is about. Saw a handful of good plays from him in his meager amount of minutes. If Baynes had hands, he would have had 2 assists off of sweet dimes. Also stripped the ball a couple times. Definitely looked good.

I think T-Mac looked decent out there. He had a couple good passes and steals. His turnovers were bad, but to be expected considering the circumstances. What concerned me was his mobility. He looked much quicker than I had anticipated.

Let's see where everyone is if TMac were to hit the winning basket in the closeout game of the next series. Give the guy a break. It takes every player a good while to get indoctrinated into Pop's style. When Splitter and Diaw come back we may not see any more of TMac. But, I would like to see at least one late game shooting spree by him just for the heck of it.

Did he fuck your sister or something?

Tracy McGrady could be retired and living on a beach somewhere lighting up with $100 bills but he went and played basketball in China, and played well enough that Gregg Popovich asked him to join the team. It's not like he begged to join the Spurs, or was traded here on luck, and I'm sure he realizes that no matter what the Spurs do this year, his legacy will largely remain the same.

No, because when Malone joined the Lakers that year they became the heavy favorite to win the championship. This year, nobody is beating Miami. But at least he might get a Western Conference Championship ring!

What's with all this animosity towards Tmac? "Bawww he's riding our coattails" Who cares? He hasn't done anything to deserve this kind of reaction. We called him. Not the other way around.

And he's grotesquely out of shape because his season ended in February. It shouldn't be a surprise that he was moving slowly out there. And, he hasn't had any time to pick up the system. And, he played like 2 minutes in garbage time. Hardly enough to judge what he might be able to contribute later on when he's in shape.

And, he was brought in to be "insurance" from the start.

The animosity towards Tmac is mind boggling.

For a guy who hasn't been in a basketball game in months, he looked pretty damn good on defense, and he drew a shitload of attention and turned it into a nice assist. With the emergence (explosion) of Cory Joseph, there's probably not any way Tmac gets on the floor outside of garbage time or injuries. I'm glad to see him get a couple minutes to close out a first round series wearing silver and black. Hope he coattails his way to a ring tbh.

That curse died in 2009...Despite McGrady being on injured reserve, the Rockets beat the Trail Blazers 4–2 in the first round of the playoffs to advance to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 1997. The Rockets would compete in a memorable series against the eventual NBA champion LA Lakers, before losing Game 7 in LA. Since McGrady was on the Rockets' roster during the 2009 NBA Playoffs, he officially advanced past the first round of the playoffs for the first time in his career.

I really hope TMAC is here next year. The man probably doesn't even remember the names of half the players/coaches on the team yet. It must be difficult. It's great for Kawhi having him around and i'm glad he suited up for the team. All upside, no downside having TMAC around.

He looked slow but his passing and ball handling are still there, he ain't lost those skills. I bet his shooting is still great too.

If he "coattails" for a championship, I'm totally cool with that. He deserved better throughout his career. I wouldn't mind him hanging around for next year as well. Pop will probably use him to his best without running him down.

1) Might be shocking news to you, but he wasnt just sitting on his thumb since we signed him... He has been in practice and learning plays... Im not expecting him to have 13 points in less than a minute but he looked terrible out there.

2) this contradicts your first bitching complaint... He has been playing in china, and while its NOT the NBA its still basketball, you'd think he hasnt lost THAT much of his game.

Im not expecting him to be the catalyst for a championship, but Im also not going to give him any slack than I do with any other player on the Spurs... T-Mac was terrible, and thats all there is to it.

lol he was in the game for 5 minutes. He went in, made a couple of nice passes in the post. Missed an open jumper, but it was a rhythm shot. And he had a couple of bad plays, but that happens when you're the only one on the floor who's been a couch potato for the past two months. Give me a break, he played fine and will be an asset to the team if/when used.

I hope T-Mac stays through the playoffs and hopefully enough to see the Spurs in full contention for a long time in the post-season. And I also hope that he stays through training camp and re-invents himself as a point forward who can translate the complicated Spurs plays as a decent SF/PF backup on a veteran's contract next season. I do believe he will be a great backup to Leonard and could be a cog in yet another "contention run".
