Was told Tiago Splitter will start for Spurs in Game 1. Mark Jackson said he wouldn't go small unless Spurs did. Expect Carl Landry to start

Hopefully pop Is thinking clearly here, and enforces his size advantage. Make the warriors try to play big and not small. If he goes small ball, I could honestly see the spurs lose the series(plays right into gs hands)...go big or go home, pop.

Pop didn't go small when he was playing OKC, why would he change his decision process now against GSW? That would make no sense at all.

It's like he's never seen a Spurs game (outside of when we play the Warriors) in his life.

Forcing them to play Landry or Fetus big minutes is a big win for us. Landry's not a bad player, but the less we allow them to space the floor, the more trouble they're in. Splitter still has a big size advantage on Landry. They're almost better off conceding every rebound and just starting Barnes hoping they can take advantage of Splitter

And they're bound to try it at some point. I don't believe Jackson when he says that won't go small as long as the Spurs stay big.

I have this feeling that Landry is going to turn into a shorter version of Darrell Arthur and start draining 19 foot jumpers from everywhere to help give the Warriors support scoring. But in this case, it won't matter because the Warriors are only Warriors on the offensive side of the ball. On the defensieve(That is not a mis-spell, it's intentional- http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?defid=1324881&term=sieve ), side, they play defense like they are Casper, The Friendly Ghost.

If they do play Barnes at the 4, that matchup will hopefully be exploited like crazy. Whether it be via post ups, or have him pick and roll to get a head of steam on his way to the basket. Plus I expect we end up with every rebound on both ends of the floor :lol

if Splitter's ankle isn't limiting him too much, of course

The only issue with Landry in the starting 5 is that Jack goes back to the bench, so we can't start the game off with Green or Kawhi on Curry, as Thompson/Barnes are too big for Tony. In the small lineup we were anticipating, Tony would be on Jack with Green/Kawhi on Curry/Thompson. I still prefer this lineup. Let them have Landry out there instead of a shooter, not like he's a defensive presence anyway

If he does, I bet he plays 15 minutes max. Although when players are coming off injury, Pop has them come off the bench. Granted, it is the Playoffs. Well see.

Starting Carl Landry changes their rotation dynamic a bit. The Warriors have typically needed him for their bench energy and scoring. He has played well in this role against the Spurs, frequently injecting 6-8 points in a short amount of time. He makes great hustle plays to keep possessions alive. He almost always gives the Spurs trouble.

With him working with the starting group, they will need to find someone else to provide consistent bench scoring. Jarrett does well against the Spurs too, so if he comes off the bench, it looks different but he can certainly get hot. It will just be a different bench matchup.

Landry jack and Lee never miss from mid range vs the spurs

His Curry vs. Parker analysis is pretty funny :lol also :lmao @ him trying to call Klay Thompson a "stopper" :lol

And did this guy watch the first round? Ginobili's back.

Yeah Landry usually knocks down the 17ft jumper with regularity against the spurs, just hope Tiago is well enough and Quick enough to stay on Landry and not give him open space.

Joseph is gonna be huge this series going against Jack.

I'm worried about Klay a little bit. With all the attention Currya nd Bogut get, Klay could be in for a few good streaky games. I think Danny Green will be asked to play big on defense in this series.

i feel like with the warriors defense, this will be a series where Green starts getting more open looks, as opposed to the Lakers series which didn't include a lot of double teaming. it was only bonner that was getting a lot of looks, because pau/dwight are guys that defend the paint, and dont come out to the perimeter. neal, green, leonard weren't exactly getting tons of outside shots off in that series either, because that was the Lakers gameplan. GS should be more porous defending, especially when they miss long shots which lead to long rebounds and transition, which is where Green finds a large bulk of his 3's

The Madness continues. Here is his view on why it will be SPURS in 7!
http://www.ibabuzz.com/warriors/2013/05/06/predictions-matchups-this-series-will-be-closer-than-many-think/

It sounds like HOPE is his best weapon:

Another reason I think this series will be close: Manu Ginobili is not the same Ginobili. He’s good enough to torch the Warriors for a big game. But over a seven-game series, his injuries and age might get the best of him. I certainly see the Warriors being able to manage him. If so, who’s the third scorer for the Spurs. It could be one of five people. But if the Warriors stay home, not fall into trapping and doubling so much, those extra guys can be held in check. After Ginobili, they’re relying on Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green and Gary Neal for offense. So if Bogut can guard Tim Duncan and keep the Warriors’ defense honest, and Klay Thompson can hold his own against Tony Parker, the Warriors are not in bad position.
I could see Matt & DeJuan combining for 15 points and for CoJo adding another 6, those 3 would equal 21 from Manu. But apparently, this guy can't see that. Oh well, hey DeJuan...that teardrop is NICE!

Bruno predicted that Splitter would be ready to play. I have a feeling he'll be showing no signs of an ankle problem. Whoever wins between Jackson and Karl will prepare for small lineups from the Spurs. Wouldn't even surprise me if he lists Splitter as "game time decision" or something then brings him off the bench 2 minutes into the game.

:lol Looks like Pop did just the opposite.

I would sure hope so...I saw him bouncing around with baynes and crew, behind the bench, during the comeback. They really need his size. I almost want to turn the channel, when pop goes to Bonner/Blair..I'm floored he's still doing it, in the playoffs!

I definitelyl think Baynes should start just to reduce Bonner/Blair minutes.

I agree I actually don't mind Blair or Bonner playing as long as they don't play together at same time. I did not think I would see them play together in playoffs.
