At the end of regulation and in the first OT, when GS actually opened a 5 pt lead, he was nowhere to be found. 1-7

"Elite" is not quarters one thru three.

When your coach is so fucking obtuse that he can't find 1 second of rest for his star player even with multiple double digit leads then he's going to be worn out by the 4th. He was gassed, and I'm wondering if Going basically 60 minutes without being subbed in one game will cause him to be shot for the next game and maybe mentally for the series.

Can't believe the Spurs had a sick and terrible Duncan, a terrible Parker for 3 quarters, no Splitter, and an inconsistent Manu and still weathered an all time great streak by Curry as well as Klay playing great. They took that and came back to win with no TD and Parker's shot being off until double OT. Insane

lol Because it was something we did.

He only played 800 minutes straight. We have got to do a better job on him. 44 points AND 11 assists??? Really???

I have nothing but fear of Curry. No disrespect here.

Biggest problem was Klay Thompson fouling out with a 16 point lead with 3:57 remaining. After that, it went all bad for the Warriors and they couldn't keep their composure. The Spurs had something to do with that, though.

I can't believe you seriously just said he isn't elite.

The dude is the best shooter in the world right now.. it's ridiculous, we all witnessed it..

You can't play every minute of a playoff game and still have your legs, and as a shooter that's everything... Had we lost this game, would he be elite? What a ridiculous statement.

Spurs won as a team, all GSW had was Curry, he's the reason they were winning by that much, and why it went to double overtime, and if it wasn't for Ginobili's shot, he would have won it for them.

Wtf are you people on.

They HAVE to play him and Clay that much to get the mismatches they want. You saw what happened with Clay fouling out. It was like a switch was flipped. It's not sustainable though. Jackson is essentially strip mining his roster.

Not sure if that had anything to do with my post you quoted... No matter how elite you are not getting any rest for 3 1/2 quarters and having to take and make so many shots/plays is going to wear anyone out. He's not a robot, and Jackson fucked him over by not sitting him at least a few min in the 1st half then some early in the 4th.

BatManu20
05-07-2013, 12:52 AM
He just said in his post-game presser that he felt like he had no legs after the 4th. You HAVE to give him some rest.. that's way too many minutes.

It's easy to make shots when you're up 10,12,14 points. The rims looks a little smaller when the game gets tighter.

Solid D
05-07-2013, 12:56 AM
The Spurs caught Jarrett Jack switching into no-man's land twice on end-of-game situations for 3 pointers. The Danny Green 3 to tie in regulaton and the Ginobili 3 on Side Out-of-Bounds play for the game-winner. He hurt them defensively in crunch-time. You can't put this on a physically maxed Curry.

forgot "this"..

just pointing out the obvious.. the minutes.

Lets put it this way, Curry is the reason GSW will lose or win this series, it all comes down to him..

that makes him elite... that and well, I dont even have to reiterate.

Whisky Dog
05-07-2013, 01:05 AM
You can pinpoint the moment that Curry's minutes caught up to him in the 4th. He missed a couple of jumpers fairly bad and he stopped moving well off the ball. Then he went into energy conservation mode and had a little built up in the 2nd OT do the runout on the terrible Manu bounce pass then hit the floater in the lane. No one can play that many minutes accounting for that much of the team's offense and still have legs to go 48 much less damn near 60

Curry is easily the best shooting guard in the NBA.

This is on Thompson for his horrible fouls, Jackson for not giving him a break, and the Warriors as a team for going iso 15 times in the fourth quarter.

His fade down the stretch was all on Jackson. They rode Curry for three quarters and he got little help especially in the third quarter. Brooks could do that with Westbrook and Durant because they shared the load. He sits Curry for 4 minutes at the start of the fourth and they probably win that game.

They're not winning this series. That has never really been an issue. The only issue is short series or long.

Being "the man" on your team doesn't make you elite for the simple reason that there are not 30 elite players in the league at the same time, ever.

No but there aren't 30 teams in the conference semis either. There's 8, and nobody but Lebron and shockingly Nate Robinson out of the teams left in the playoffs has shown to dominate a game like he did before getting gassed. I'd say his playoff performances so far make him and elite player in the making

There's the rub. You guys are as bad as the NBA media, annointing players before they've earned it.

Elite players close games. If their legs are gone, they find another way to do it other than continuing to miss long jumpers.

Tbh this is his first chance being his first playoff run, but the stats and impact he's had through 7 playoff games cannot be denied. The guy lit the 3 seed nuggets up and just lit the Spurs up in game 1. I agree with you that he's not on a TD-KD-Lebron type level of elite yet but he's just starting. Let's just hope he doesn't get the chance to do it this series.

I hope Curry goes for 50 tomorrow, tbh. He's great but Manu taught him a big lesson tonight. No one will remember that Curry had 40+. But everyone will remember the three because it was at the righ time. Welcome to playoff basketball, Steph. Warriors are not ready for prime time pressure. That's two games in a row. They were lucky in Denver.

This. They moved the ball well until the last 4 mins. When the game got tight, suddenly, everyone was going 1-on-1. And when the Spurs chipped away at the lead, you could see the doubt in the Warriors' faces. We're lucky that they are somewhat inexperienced and failed to close it out.

Golden State blew their wad, they went all in, and they got nothing to show for it except a loss and some soreness. Barnes was fantastic too. Better than Jack. Barnes, Jack, Curry, Thompson ... just a dangerous group of shooters. Hell this is the best 3pt% shooting team in the league. I hope this loss rattles them and game 2 will be better executed by the Spurs.

Curry was amazing. Spurs were just a little bit better but do not take anything away from Steph.

I'm just glad the Spurs got away with a W in one of his incredible shooting games - but there will be more of them.
