Which game did you enjoy more, tbh?..

Hopefully the results of the series will be similar..Phoenix controlled the entire game in 2008, yet choked and lost down the stretch, which demoralized and crushed them..let's hope the Warriors suffer the same fate..

2008 by a hair. If the Spurs go to the Finals and win it all, this game will be the greatest non-finals victory in franchise history. IMO

Today was a better comeback.

Phoenix 08 was a better game.

A buddy of mine went to both and I asked him the same question. Said Phoenix was better cause the whole crowd was still there. A lot of today's crowd left when we went down 18 again late

Game against Phoenix we were never out of it. Tonight, it felt like we got NO stops until the middle of the 4th quarter and it was literally impossible at one point to stop Curry. Plus, this game had more of a rollercoaster feel to the ending...I MEAN WE WERE UP 5...and MANU TAKES THE WORST SHOT HE's EVER TAKEN IN HIS CAREER. And then promptly follows it up with one of the biggest.

Suns - beating Nash, Amare, Shaq, and D'Antoni was a hell of a lot more enjoyable even though tonight's comeback was probably harder considering how bad the team played for most of the game. Basically, it comes down to me hating the core of that Suns team more. I don't really dislike anybody on the Warriors except Klay Thompson

Both games were absolutely amazing. 08' is special because Tim Duncan of all people tied the game with a 3 to force a second OT. Tonight was awesome because we were down 16 points with 4 mins left in regulation and yet they came back and won...amazing. I can't choose right now :lol Give my heart a second to calm down and I'll get back to you...

I preferered Suns/Spurs 2008 more.

Our comeback in this game was more impressive, but the actual comeback part came in a really short span of time, followed by 2 OTs of multiple bad plays and demoralizing situations. I felt more like "damn they're gonna lose now", not, "omg they're in it!". Spurs/Suns I was just excited the whole time. . .plus it had the best moment of either game (the huge Duncan 3 over Shaq).

So I prefer the 2008 Spurs/Suns game because there was a longer period of stuff to be happy about over the last bits of the game.

It's easy to be a prisoner of the moment, but I'll go with '08. This one was even less probable, though.

Let's hope the Warriors suffer the same fate and can't get over it, otherwise this could be a lot more difficult than most (including I) gave it credit for. I don't buy that that was just rust. The Spurs legitimately couldn't guard them, couldn't find a place to hide Parker and didn't seem to have a discernible game plan for Curry. Pop also played right into their hands by going small and playing ridiculous lineups.

This was a more ridiculous comeback, but '08 was against a better team.

As someone said, if this game propels the Spurs to the Finals (or better yet somehow winning another ring) then this becomes the greatest non-Finals game in franchise history.

I doubt it. The Warriors are way to confident. I think the bigger thing to watch for is the next game. Did the Spurs expend too much energy to win this game that they get blown out of the next game? It's happened before like in '06 when we barely won game 1 against the Mavs and got blown out in game 2.

Don't know if anyone else caught this, but both games have one similar play in common that I caught the moment it happened. The Danny Green 3 to tie the game in regulation looked like the same exact play that they ran for Finley to tie the game in the 4th qtr of that 08' Suns game....

08 was great but this game was way more impressive I still thought they couldn't win this game, this game I thought this game was OVER. Especially Curry 3rd quarter

The '08 game was so long ago that it is hard to remember the finer details. The Duncan shot was a bigger individual moment than any that happened tonight. Overall I'd take this game though. I thought we were done in the third quarter when Curry went nuts. I was waiting for Pop to throw in the towel and put in the backups. When they played even worse to start the fourth, I had no thoughts of a comeback. It was strange, because even as it was happening it never felt like we were going to win. Then the big shots started falling, and the rest is history.

IIRC we were never down by that many points vs the Suns in 2008. This one seemed well and truly over with a 14-point deficit that late in the game. Also the Spurs were able to execute well most of that game, and had the Suns figured out by the time the game to an end. This game nothing seemed to go well for us (scoring, rebounding, defense) - GSW had 21 TOs and missed 10 FTs in this game. Not sure if the Spurs have an answer for the Warriors yet.

I have to go with 2008 Round 1 Game 1, simply because Tim was the hero that game, and he's my favorite player. And he did it against Shaq, establishing his superiority over him.

But this one is right behind.

You're right. PHX jumped out to a 5-0 and their max lead was about 12 in the 2nd Quarter. They spent most of the second half nursing a 5-7 point lead until the Spurs tied it with 4 min in regulation. The game was close the rest of the way.

Still, the Spurs only had the lead for a total of about 3:20 out of 58 minutes.

I remember hearing the Rocky theme music at at one point tonight right before an inbounds play (the same music playing when Finley hit his three). But I don't think it was before Green's three--it may have been before Manu's missed shot at the end of OT1.

2008 was a better overall game. Tonight was a better comeback.

Scratch that, tonight was borderline fucking impossible. It was stupid, is what it was. This was a game where Spurs fans should be able to point when the question of that team's resolve comes up. Too old? Too tired? Outgunned? Outplayed? Down 16 with under four minutes to play against a 25 year old scoring at will? Gut check time came knocking and the Spurs answered and then some.

Basically this. The Spurs in no way deserved to win that game. That said, I'd have been willing to give up game 1 to rust in order for all those guys to have 7 days off. Win or lose, the Spurs were going to take this series only if everyone was healthy.

both games were epic, but the TD 3 pointer had me falling off the couch into the floor and tonight was just like intense battle to claw back in and hang on.

both games will probably have similar impacts, in 08 the 2OT took so much wind out of their sails, you could see it on the faces of the suns players, who at the time must've been thinking "what's it take to beat SA?" after 2007 then the stack up w shaq and we still take care of business in 2008.

could see a young warriors team deflate pretty hardcore after a loss like this..

Game one 06 after a long series with the Kings and less than two days later we played! This one we had a week off and a day! GOOD LORD if one game makes them that tired then they are truly too old! I MEAN SERIOUSLY TOO OLD! One game in over a week should not make you that tired.

I didn't notice that, but I did think the Bazemore layup looked a hell of a lot like Kevin Martin scoring over Duncan in 2006.

That layup was too easy, the Martin layup was contested beyond belief! That layup tonight was nothing near that, that layup from Martin was just a stroke of luck! This one looked easy and he had a lane to get there.

This game was more epic because of the fact that we were down by 16 with less than 4 minutes to go. I means that's insane. A lot of things have to go right for us and wrong for the Warriors for that comeback to happen and it did. Plus you add in the huge breakdown at the end of the 2nd OT where it looked like we were going give it away after that crazy comeback and then Manu hits the Godly 3.. I mean you make this stuff up. Truly one of/if not the greatest Spurs playoff game.

Eerie similarities between that game and this game:

Spurs played to two OTs.
Opponent was a 6th seed led by a sweet-shooting PG and a 1st overall C.
OT was forced by the starting SG wearing #4.

Yep, the Suns were chock full of vets who got pounded by the spurs year after year after year. I can't remember which series, but I remember after the spurs got their third win in a series, Nash basically said, they do this every year to us. or something like that. He looked despondent.
