From what? The thread is about NOT being the biggest failure in sports history, and this year's Clippers fit the criteria.... meanwhile, the Lakers spent $100 million and guaranteed 73 wins and a ring only to be the laughingstock of the sports world all season long :lol

No, you haven't. Otherwise, this thread doesn't exist. There's a difference between a team with proven champions that been together for 10 years losing in pathetic fashion to a team that eeked (46 wins) into the playoffs. Versus a team that was thrown together on the fly, and was expected to compete because of the names on the backs of their jerseys. In other words, they had no business there to begin with. So either winning 61 games det year was the biggest fluke win total in NBA history (given the results of 8), or it is the biggest NBA upset in NBA history. I'm interested in your :downspin: on this take.

Kwame's contract led to Z-bo. We basically traded the draft rights to Pau's fat little brother for prime Pau. The Gift ended any chance of 5 = 5. So even if this is permanent, let's boil it down: 5 > 4. :downspin:

8 isn't in the same universe of embarrassment as the 2012-13 Lakers. Memphis finished the season on a 22-10 run and then took OKC to 7 after they beat the Spurs. No it isn't. Not even close. 8 seeds have beaten 1 seeds before. Glad to see you're moving into the acceptance stage of grief.

And I know Lakers fans are trying to excuse this disaster with injuries, but the very reason so many players were injured was because of the failure of the front office. Filling the roster with old players and then hiring a coach known to not use a bench (instead of the coach who has won 11 championships and knows how to pace a veteran roster throughout an NBA season) was about the worst decision I have ever seen an NBA FO make. And this same FO was complicit in Kobe suffering a possible career ending injury. No NBA player wants to sit or rest, especially with the season on the line, but Laker brass, for Kobe's best interest and health, should've forced him to sit. I don't give a shit how much clout Kobe has, he doesn't own the Lakers, and someone, whether it was D'Antoni, Buss, or Kupchak should've stepped up and reigned in his minutes.

From management to the players on the court (Dwight under performing, Nash sucking, Gasol sulking because he didn't want to come off the bench) the 2012-13 Lakers failed in every which way imaginable.

8 actually happened 3 times in NBA history

The Lakers 2013 season has never happened before, and will never be duplicated.

The reason of such uniqueness to the 2013 Laker season (which is so unique and have so many levels of failure) is because of the magnitude of failure.

Not deflecting, but rather, correcting. Am I disappointed in the Lakers' season? I'll put it to you like this, when we are loaded and don't win, hell yeah. However, there are a myriad of reasons why we lost this year. But for sake of being called a pussy or an asshole, I'll plead the 5th.

All BS to the side, 8 is worst than Lakers' 2013 season. Sure, we had expectations and didn't live up to them. You guys had your big 3 that had been together for a decade and lost to a <b>team that would have lost in the sweet 16 of the 2011 NCAA tournament. </b>:lol

In the long and distinguished history of bad takes on spurstalk, this might be the worst. Worse than manu>dirk, worse than diaw>lee, even worse than dudley>carmelo. Seriously son, do you even know what basketball is?

You wouldn't be salty if

1. Your star player is done
2. Your long-term coach is D'Antoni
3. Your #2 star player cares more about having bastard children than developing a post move or learning to catch the ball
4. Your #3 star player (really #1) is getting traded for pennies on the dollar
5. Your #4 star player doesn't give a shit and quit the team when it needed him
6. Your team is owned by new age James Dolan
7. Your team went from We can beat Miami to Hey, can we hold off Utah?
8. Your team doesn't even have the MLE to improve itself in the offseason

LOL Kobe quitting the season in the disgrace of 11 (http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2005.html) when he could no longer make the playoffs just like Bible Kemp, Nash, Blake, and Artest quit in $120 million (http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2013.html).

Even better. Spurs' Big 3 been together for a decade. Won 3 LOBs. Have won 50+ every year since Nixon was in office. Etc., etc., etc... However, to win 61 games (11 shy of the record by my basic math :lol), only to get your shit pushed in by a 46-win team is PATHETIC. Permanent shit stain on Duncan's legacy. every team has bitter memories imho, mavs have 06 finals and 07 first round, spurs have fisher's buzzer beater and even has heat have the 11' finals which we never wanna speak of. its really hard to say which team is the biggest failure in the history of sports imho. there're all time mediocre franchises but i never call those teams failures, they're just irrelevant and ain't even worth mentioning
