View Full Version : Give TMac Manu's minutes

With the way Manu's playing I think we should give TMac a lot of his minutes. It can't hurt to see what he's got.

You must have missed Manu's 12 second half points.

0,00000000000001/10.
Manu didn't shot well but was very good all around(passing/rebounding/drawing fouls).

If the Spurs are able to control Sunday's game I would do it. That way Manu is fresh for Game 5.

It's what Manu does.. He hit shots at key moments, fucked up like usual with stupid passes but he didn't shit the bed. Kawhi needs to work on those FTs

Outside of shooting Manu played a pretty damn good basketball game.

Manu is playing like shit . Turning it over and missing open shots. If he heats up though this series is over! I bet he turns it around. Hes still rusty . He can't play any worse.

Bench a guy with rings and many years of experience with the nuances of our system for an even older guy who just showed up out of shape and maybe 5 minutes of game time with us?
Brilliant! Nice troll.

Look, when Manu is bricking he's still doing MOST of his job correctly.
He's out there schooling the young guys and frustrating the crap out of everyone in the whole arena--El Contusion is fine, but I always thought of him as The Disruptor.
I'll take good chemistry and history over the great unknown any day in the playoffs.

He's not hitting threes but he's making plays. I want to see him drive more, but it's hard to punish Manu when all he really needs is to find his rhythm. I would live to see resurgent T-Mac go off on these Warriors though.

I'd like to see T-Mac come in when they give Diaw a rest along with Splitter. He offers length and he's not tiny, at least 5 or 6 minutes.. Plus that post is ripe for the picking

Would McGrady have had the presence of mind to cut to the basket for a feed from Duncan, at a crucial time, after he had a very subpar game like Ginobili had? No because McGrady is too cool for school. He wouldnt dive on the floor for a loose ball if the frickin championship depended on it.

TheGoldStandard

McGrady is still better than Neal and that's really without seeing what he has left I am pretty confident saying that. Shooters can shoot but T-Mac with his size probably gets better looks

Ginobili was key in stopping that 3rd quarter run and putting the Spurs up by 10 going into the fourth.

Give Neal's minutes to T-Mac.

Austin_Toros

Not Manu's minutes. If Neal continues to shoot poorly then Tmac han have Neal's minutes.

Tmac from 2003 maybe. 2013 tmac? Unless Manu is limping, no.

No, on the other hand, Danny Green has held Curry to 2 of 20 shooting, total for the entire time that Danny's been on him this series. Danny played 44 of 58 in game 1 (~34 minutes in regular time), 32 out of 48 in game 2, and 33 minutes tonight. Meanwhile Kwahi is playing 40+ a night. Danny's not significantly older than Kawhi, he can handle 40 a night. I could deal with less Gary Neal, and Manu playing some point, (8 a sf, 8 at sg, and x at pg) to get more Green on Curry as a matchup...Curry's played 40+ each game, and is shooting 34 of 58 on everyone but Danny.

Clamping down on Steph Curry makes those a long 32/33 minutes. If he doesn't have the stamina to do it at a high level for 40+, I'd rather have him get a little more rest along the way than have him wear out down the stretch and give Curry an easier time when it matters most. I'd also like to see him not completely wiped out going into the WCFs.

Nope, while I think TMac won't do any worse than Neal, the fact is, he doesn't know the systems or his teammates well enough for him to do anything other than freestyle. That ain't the type of cohesion that Pop requires in a playoff series. I'm sure he'll play some during victory time but unless he gets base time with the key 9 rotation, then he's relegated to the bench.

I see this as a case of McGrady having joined the spurs a month to a month and a half earlier sure, lets see what he has in the play-offs for right now though he's injury insurance and spot minutes at best.

I am OK with him getting some minutes but I am talking no more then five minutes to give Manu or Kawhi some breathing time. This series is been a fast paced endurance test and you can tell some of our players are getting gassed. I also would like CoJo to get some more minutes for Tony he is is the engine to this team and I think he needs an oil change at this point.

I can say this if when we play the Heat/Memphis or OAK. we will need him more then Neal.

OP's point is stupid, but honestly why is T-Mac not playing over Bonner? Is he THAT out of shape? Or THAT slow learning the system? Or is Pop really just not comfortable at all with him playing? He cannot possibly be worse than Matt freakin Bonner. I don't understand this. If it's a huge failure ore doesn't work out for some reason, then you can pull him. But what was the point in signing him if you're just going to make him ride the pine the entire playoffs? I don't see what's holding him back. Maybe he creates a mismatch since they're playing small-ball. He could post up a smaller defender easily. Worst case, he misses a couple shots and you pull him.
